yeah me too.
yeah me too.
We will give all the details and answer questions in the driver meetings at Atco.
Basically there will be We have the running capital to run the Series indefinently. NHRA was not sold. The NHRA POWERade Series and most hard assets were sold and will be run by a seperate shareholder owned--NHRA Pro Racing. The NHRA Association will vitually stay the same and run the day to day with the infusion of $121M to keep the Lucas, Sport Compact and other elements running for a long time to come.

I am wondering if the sport compact series is going to be a part of the NHRA or the NHRA Pro Series. It seems like it will be a part of the NHRA and that the NHRA Pro Series will be a totally different deal.

I think we are a part of the NHRA still and just the POWERade series is part of the NHRA Pro Series. I thought that NHRA Sport Compact was just as much a pro series as POWERade was in the grand scheme of the NHRA but it seems like that is not the case but I could be very wrong in that.
Dont read too much into the word "pro". Its just a title for the company being created. We (Sport Compact) wont need to answer to shareholders--NHRA Pro Racing will.
Sport Compact is part of the NHRA Assoc. Sorry its very confusing. We can explain and answer questions at Atco.We (SC) were sceptical until it was explained.
Also this takes the POWERade Series and the other hard assest (tracks and NHRA building, etc) away from us. The Gov't has been cracking down on not for profit organizations (not NHRA as of yet) and the management team wanted to nip those possible issues in the bud---NHRA POWERade might make too much profit and we dont want the gov't on us.
The investors are some big hitters (from DirecTV, XM, Sirius) and could take us all to another level.

So basically, some of the biggest, if not biggest/most valuable, parts of NHRA were sold to HD Partners to form a new separate company, NHRA Pro Racing.
NHRA will still be around as, "non-profit" NHRA, but catering exclusively to amateur/sportsman, National Dragster and race governance. It will own less but still work with NHRA Pro Racing.
We'll all have to see how this pans out. I'm sure the whole "non-profit" structure of NHRA crafted the way the sale was made.
This will take out the non-profit ceiling and definitely give the Powerade series muscle to possibly start boxing with NASCAR.
Getting a good vibe from Gary about Sport Compact though.

Ed,
I'm impressed. You hit the nail on the head.
Wally Parks was at the announcement and a point was made to make sure his vision of NHRA was kept through this entire deal.
The purchase of the POWERade Series and calling it the "Pro" was strictly a financial move. I know people are going to read too much into that, but that is what it is.

Once you read more about it, I can see how this can be a good thing for all sportsman racers and those of us on the sport compact side. I have the feeling that now the NHRA is going to be run by people who understand sportsman racing and what we are trying to do with the sport compact series. It seems like those in the NHRA that are about the bottom line are going to run the new company and turn that into a profit business. I also hope that sport compact gets a larger then normal cut of that 121 million.
I know this won't stop the people saying that this is last year for sport compact, but you can only hope.

hell i own my own buisness & its not a non-profit but i shure as hell make it look like one. i show a loss every year. got to luv the good old american system

[/QUOTE]Maybe we will see more TV time and advertising with these kind of investors.
I think it will be a good thing and hopefully create more races for more regions, instead of mainly east coast events.
I know that it would probably be really expensive but if someone would do video coverage of the NHRA, NDRA, etc... series I would definitely watch it. Maybe if D sport, S3, or Modified branched off to do some video coverage would be awesome. Hell, even if a company came up with a DVD set of all the races from the year. I know companies do it in sports like paintball. I know that some XM or Sirius coverage of a race would be pretty cool. Imagine being able to tune in to a live event while driving down the road, or even tailgating in the pits/parking.
The Speed Lounge does cover every NHRA event now with video. They do video of every round of qualifying and eliminations. I am not sure how fast they can get it up but sometimes it happens by the end of that day if not a few days after the event.
