Need help for a 9 second pass
I really need help, preferably from the experienced h series guys!!!
I have a full weight integra with a h22. My problem is I have ran a best of 10.3 at 142
I am running into a road block, I am hitting the limiter before the end of the track. So I have maxed out my trap until something changes.
I will give you a run down of my setup and hopefully someone can help me that has more experience then I do.
Motor
Stock crank
9.0:1 compression
Manley turbo tuff rods
All oem bearings mains .0019 clearance
Rods .002
Stock port head
Stock intake manifold
Stock tb
Skunk2 pro 1 cams
Pro series springs and retainers with the spring bases
Custom top mount
6766 turbo
Drivetrain
Dss level 3 axles
Ppg strait cut dog box---1.045 fourth gear and 4.4 final drive
24.5 slicks
I currently only rev the motor to about 8800 it makes 741whp at 29psi. I have not ran it at full power yet due to hitting the limiter before the end of the track. Close to full power but not quite.
My real question is what are all the fast h guys doing? Reving higher? Is my gearing not ideal? 26 inch slicks?
How high can they be revved?
Or am I in for a expensive road? Custom final drive?

That is a option but the 26's won't quite get me to my goal, I am trying to see what it's going to take to rev it to 9400-9500. It would only be in 4th gear. And reving it higher won't cost anything. 26's and new rims would be like 1200. And I will do it eventually
Is say rev it higher assuming you have a good valvetrain to support te extra RPM and you have already deleted that goofy h series balance shaft.
I do have the balance shafts deleted.
I am hoping to hear from some of the h guys that have reved these motors that high. I have always been a believer in rpms stands for ruins peoples motors. However I have no choice now

Rev it out. 4.4 final and PPG 4th gear at 10k rpm will run 163-165 on a 24.5 tire if I remember correctly. I'm on stock gsr trans running 157 and I'm not on the limiter yet which is set to 10k rpm.

The other thing is the car starts to lose tq around 8200 faster then I climbs rpm so it is losing power about then. Should I make any cam gear adjustments to shift the power band up in the rpm range? Or try to shift it I should say
Rc I definitely think revving the motor upwards to 9600 or so would be the difference your looking for. Going from 24.5 too 26's would get you the mph you want, but then again you might see a slower short track moving bigger tires.
Those springs could possibly be an issue. They are only 50psi of seat pressure on a B series without the spacers. Not sure how they rate on an H with the bases. I had them in my old B16 head running to 9300. I never ran more than about 23lbs in 4th gear.
Power starts to drop off at about 8300 or so. I am contemplating adjusting the cam gears to move the powerband up a little in the rpm range. They are just degreed to there center lines right now. What's everyone think about that?
It sounds like you are talking about peak power dropping off after 8300. It is all about power under the curve.
Look at it this way when you shift gears and the tach drops down to 6500RPM(using random numbers to make it easier)
6000 = 50hp
8000=100hp
So now rev it a little higher lets say to 9000 RPM
after the shift lets say you are at 7000rpm now
7000 = 75hp
8000 = 100hp
9000 = 90hp
Your power under the curve is higher now than what it was before. Peak is great for people flexing there muscles on the internet. Its all about power under the curve.

I am not as concerned about power. It makes good power. And I will only rev it that high in 4th that's it. I am only concerned with if it can handle it.
Your engine builder should be able to give you an indication as to what RPM your rotating assembly is safe for. Your valve train should hold up but to be safe get together with your builder and tuner.
Nonvtecallmotor thank you very much, that's what I was looking for. Any idea what his valve train consists of? I am pretty sure I read somewhere that he runs the same rods as me and maybe a longer stroke. That is very promising. Thank you very much.
We run Ferrea valve train. Runs stock stroke and bore. Ran Manley TT until this year. Ran the same engine for 5 years or so. Also ran 9.33@162 on stock cams.
I am on stock valves. Do you think I could rev it to 9500 on stock valves? The valves only have 3,000 miles on them. New from honda
