I have a ek hatch w/full interior making around 330whp. I have 225x50x15s hoosiers qtp. I have a ls trans with a lsd and spinning the motor to 8500rpm. My question is what can I do to tach 4th gear out?


Fastest pass so far is 11.85@125mph with a 1.8 60ft. My 8th mile is 95.99mph. Do you think a taller tire would help I.E 24.5?

Or should I even be worried about it or?

I had the same issue with my spare LS trans. I hate them for high revving engines. I blew the oem diff in my GSR and while it was down I got a LS 4.266 final drive in it and WOW! It is MUCH better than that LS trans. I would recommend finding more hp and a new trans. Anything but a LS geared trans if you want to drag race it.

 

A taller tire would make the gearing seem even longer. Might not even need 4th lol.

 

maybe its just me, but 125mph seems pretty high for 330whp and around 2500lbs.

anyway, you really need a different trans or diff. gearing. either a straight out gsr trans or a 4.4 or higher final drive in your ls trans if you want to go up to a 24.5.

you would need a smaller tire(less than the 23.xx inches that a 225/50/15 is ) to increase your rpm in 4th to tach it out, and i dont think going backwards is what you wanna do.

 

Stock GSR (w/LSD) and 24.5x9x13 slicks will do it. Low 11's for sure.
