Question... for Pro4cyl. Am i reading this rule right?

"no slipper clutches allowed for aftermarket transmissions."

Does this mean because of how it is worded, that you can use a slipper clutch if you are using an OEM-based transmission? Does this apply to OEM tranny's with aftermarket bellhousings?

The aftermarket bellhousing is a safety issue according to SFI. In 2006 all 8.70 and faster will be required to have them, no matter what class or trans.

Yes they are. We are concerned in all of the racers safety, and are trying to eliminate any unfortunate mishaps in 2005.

Sorry Steve, that is a typo. It should read all Pros and 9.50 and faster sportsman cars. Sorry for the confussion in that. It will be corrected shortly.

Everything looks great for the Power Street class.

So let me get this straight.

Turbo4 AWD car with 2 power assers can run a bias ply DOT street tire.

9.5 and slower car in turbo4 doesn't need the hahns and diaper.

Please confirm at nopi.

AWD with 2 power adders must run a dot approved street tire.

Correct, not until you run 9.50's is the diaper and the head and neck restraint mandatory.

• PARACHUTES: Required for all cars exceeding 150 mph.

NDRATECH,
There are no tire size limits in any Pro class?
You only state "No limit on tire width at this time."
What about diameter/rollout?

Thanks for clarification.

I believe the only tire size limitation is in the Pro Street tire class.

From the rulebook online.

No tire in class can exceed 10.5” in tread width.

Hope that helps you.

Why are there no tire limitations for Pro classes? Wouldn't you want to limit the tire for many of these classes, so that you can limit what each class is capable of doing, and then possibly have even closer and more successful racing, rather than having even more breakage. Like in the Pro4 class, what if someone comes out with a 30x10.5 tire, and forces everyone else to step up, and with that learning curve, there will just be more breakage, and a LOT more money spent to get the cars up to par for that kind of tire.

I'd love to see a 28" tire for Pro Outlaw FWD, and a 26" tire for the Pro 4 Cylinder... it would also make for more disparity between the classes, and it would allow for closer racing, because there may be less breakage in the Pro 4 Cylinder cars with the smaller tire

I know these suggestions will probably fall on deaf ears, but either way, i'll be out there with bells on... lol.

Thanks for the clarification. As of right now the turbo 4 rules as it pertains to tires, hahns, and the diaper are different in the sectioned sportsman rules vs the entire rulebook in PDF, just a heads up.

Man I guess I never looked closely...but I can't think of a car that tried to run them. Seems like an odd rule. I understand it but its odd that they single something like that...yet allow bogus stuff in other classes.

I am very curious as to why a street class car must retain its interior. I race a 1994 civic hatch that was a flood recovery car and most of the interior wsa tossed after rotting. the car has current registration, insurance and safety inspections as well as passes state required emissions....i even daily drive it when i want to have fun....

I guess I jsut figure if the state says a car is street legal I dont see why it shouldnt be street class racing legal.

in one section for turbo4 it says, Weight and Turbo: Turbo Size limits and Specifications on size. Although in the rule book i can't find any limits.

All cars should run an engine diaper...to be perfectly honest.

Look how often the track gets oiled...

Dropping Oil can put RWD cars into the wall, I've seen it happen...

I saw a mustang hit the wall and roll because it oiled its own slicks down.
