my confession....
whats up everyone....
well, i just recently finished up my first motor build and swap (ls/vtec into a 92 hatch) and i must say im already addicted to my newfound power!! but theres a problem you see, and herein lies the reason for this thread...
speeding and racing on the streets is both dangerous and stupid and ive been wanting to take my car to a strip, but.....ok....here it is....
I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT DRAG RACING!!!!
staging, pre-staging, deep staging, shallow, brackets, all that stuff... i have no idea what any of it means....but i really would like to learn. does anyone have a link to some good info or could anyone just post some so a drag newbie could get started? thanks in advance...

heres something i pulled off the net i was gonna wirte it up but got lazy and just searched so hope it helps all i can say is track time is a must to improve your skills words can only do so much but doing it hands on is even better plus you get a big rush
Tree = The stand all those pretty lights sit on :-)
R/T = Reaction Time, how fast you react to the lights on the tree. (has NOTHING to do with ET)
Staging = At the top of the tree there are 4 lights. 2 sets of 2. when you line up on the "line" you are staging.you'll see the first 2 lights light up then the second set and then you are Staged...... You can either stage shallow or deep. Shallow = when the 2nd set of lights Just Barely light up you stop. staging deep would be just before the 2nd lights go off. Deep will get you better R/T but shallow will get better ET
60' = this is important to judge how well you launch!
330'= real important for GT-S people can help judge your 1-2 shift!
1/8 = this is the 1/2 way mark. most races are won/lost here. So Don't ever say 1/8 isnt a real dragstrip!
1/4 = Duh the end in a 1/4 mile course. lol
ET = Elapsed time. Time it takes you from start to finish (i.e. 14's or 15's or 14.8 etc...)
Trap Speed = the speed you are clocked at the end of either the 1/8 or 1/4 mile!

Just don't react too fast and redlight (leave too soon) because then you are outta there!

I don't know if they have this at the library or not, but my friend has it and it covers the basics of bracket racing and drag racing in general. Not too bad of a book, even though it is slightly out dated...but eh...
