Icon6 Moonroof Plug

Im in the process of removing the factory moonroof and replacing it with a carbon fiber plug. I just wanted to see what you guys have done to replace the moonroof and if a flat carbon sheet approximately 2mm thick would suffice. I think it would but I cannot seem to source a carbon supplier.

I have see the lighter faster kit but feel that its priced way too high so I need some alternatives.

All his is is a flat piece of carbon anyways. I'd prefer to make a wood template, cover it in butchers wax and glass a piece in so the body lines are all good

I believe his has the compound bow required to follow the lines of the roof but I still cant justify it. I think with properly aligned brackets and a 2mm thickness, it should conform enough to line up nicely with the curve of the roof.

I found a couple of suppliers but they're selling a gloss finished sheet approx 1.7mm thick for ~$200. All the others I have spoken to have some issue which rules them out. There has to be a manufacturer out there that can produce a 21 x 32 x 080" flat sheet of carbon...

I just broke down and bought this kit for my car the other day ill try to take some good pics when i install it. I to thought the price was a little high but once you price some sheets of carbon fiber its not that bad of a pricefor the kit.

Contact BRE Motorsports. They make a nice plug that follows the contours of your roof.

Could that have something to do with bracket placement? Thats key in getting the piece to follow the curves but then again the piece would have to have some sort of curve in it to allow that...

Why not make your own out of fiber glass? Might not be as light as cf, but still way lighter than stock glass. Not to mention it will be cheaper.

I have zero fiberglass laying skills and getting it laid, painted, etc would kill the money saved. Plus the ricer in me likes CF look...

the BRE Motorsports AKA Franks custom fiberglass, Carbon plug is the best one ive seen.

we use one on the Hotrod coupe, the fitment is awsome, its got flanges on it for mounting, the piece itself is very stiff, so it wont do dumbshit like most of the flat panels out there.

Where can we get pricing and maybe more info on this piece?

Shot em an email... Ill keep you guys updated...

I also been in contact with Semco and Composite Envisions so we'll see if that might work out as well...

Any other thoughts on installing a 2mm flat sheet and it looking right? Im thinking it would conform depending on the bracket placement but the orientation of the sheets when laid will have a factor on stiffness...
