Default Mirrors required in street classes?

BOTI rules state "both door mirrors required" in the street classes, yet I saw many competitors with either 1 or no mirrors on their cars at the last Fontana event.

I have also seen several Outlaw cars running with either 1 (with the factory blockoff plate pass. side) or no mirrors at all at various events.

Nobody seems to care or enforce this from what I can tell.

Is there an actual rule about this for the East coast bodies/events?

I would like clarification on this, to be sure we are within the rules as removing the mirrors is a substantial aero advantage.

My civic vx came with only one mirror. I'm not about to go out and add another one on. That just an advantage I'm forced to take.

I realize that, and everybody with a car that didn't have a passenger side from the factory will say that.

But the BOTI rulebook clearly states "both door mirrors required".

This is why I am asking, as well as wondering if the other bodies out there have such a rule.

For instance - can we show up at the shootout at E-town next year with no mirrors? That's OK, or not?

i dont think anyone cares enough to complain about another competitor not having mirrors lol

its not like your hiding a nos bottle under your dash or running meth

your not gonna go any faster w/o the mirrors

as for the boti rules stating "both door mirrors", they arent gonna make you have both mirrors when alot of cars only came w/ one on the drivers side to begin w/

You would think *street class* would be what's legal on the street. Believe you only need 2 mirrors which is your rear view mirror and driver mirror. Not sure if law has changed. But when racing it would make sense that for safety all 3 would be needed.

James, thats another one of those rules that boti never enforces. Guys like us who build our cars specifically to the rule book simply do it for our own well being and peace of mind. Then the joe shmoe who shows up to the race not reading the rulebook and completely strips out his car will still be allowed to race because the guys teching don't know the rules either. Been racing the boti series for over 5years, i'm used to it.

I've always thought that rule was wierd too as like everyone else has stated, there were cars that didn't come with both mirrors.

I'd like to know how much this rule is going to be enforced. We're in the process of making the Driver side and Passenger side block off mirrors for the EK, EG, and DC this month. Need to know if we should go on with doing it.

You need a rear view mirror to check when changing lanes
