Nah radiator is where it's staying. It can't move closer to the manifold. I'll be going through a different area. I've never built an "easy" car. I've always picked not so ordinary cars to build. I'm used to it.Originally Posted by lvdb-2
yep i bet if slap that manifold and turbo on a eg it fit perfect..you knew the job was going to be tough when you took it..lol..i see your going to have to move the radiator to have a straight shot to what ever intercooler you get or just have the intercooler inlet offset toward the turbo..definantly going to take alot of mock up,to get it right.!!gl. bro!

i have the same issue with my blueridge forward facing manifold on my eg. i talked to blueridge and they said that's how they all are need to do a custom intercooler. i can post pics of mine tomorrow. my intercooler is angled out on the passenger side and sits in towards the center.
Yeah I wasn't having the intercooler sitting crooked. They used an a2w setup when they ran the manifold which is probably what it was built around.

i dont see why you couldnt move the intercooler back a couple inchs or angle it so the bottom is close to the radiator and it looks like it could mate up pretty easyOriginally Posted by 89efhatchy

Here's what we came up with on an AFI forward facing manifold:

That's a thick *** intercooler! 6"+
Nice work Jeff. What's the core length?

If I would have said Wil was making my front end there'd still be someone saying the same thing. It came down to which one was willing to make it. Wil said no. This day in time it doesn't seem getting anything like that quick, even the off the shelf front ends seem to be taking people months to get. There's a thread going right now about someone not getting their stuff from Wil. You said custom and I know what you're referring to. My front end is far from the same concept as a one piece front. It's really not custom at all. It's an off the shelf bumper for a dc chassis moulded to fit. I've saw pics and it looks great.Originally Posted by dturbocivic

The intercooler is as far back as it can go. It's almost touching the frame on the passenger side and I'm not mounting it directly against the radiator, nor am I having it sitting in there crooked. It will be parallel with the bumper. Again this thread has nothing to do with the way my current intercooler is mounted, or which way it's facing. It was simply for input on a better ic option with my space constraints. ThanksOriginally Posted by scottdh20

That's some nice work. Is there any disadvantages to welding two cores back to back opposed to ordering a 6" thick core to start with?Originally Posted by boosted hybrid

20x11x3" cores welded together. Each core alone is good for 600-700 whp. Originally Posted by jdm_ef9

Garrett does not make good cores that are in the 18~20" length that can support big power. I only use Garrett cores on anything that comes out of our shop, so when something is not available you get creative.Originally Posted by 89efhatchy

Well, if you're the average guy without a ton of money or a shop with nice equipment like me....
This is what I got. I have a precisionfab1 manifold and an ebaycooler (that's smaller than yours, unfortunately). Although it lined up just perfect.

I think it would have been easier to have a manifold made, rather than work around a manifold that doesnt fit your car.
Were still working on my manifold, but this is the intercooler and turbo placement on my car. BW S366 and Treadstone TR12 22x12.5x4.5 core/30" overall.

If you know even a little about fiberglass I'm sure strada will disappoint you. I'm not taking a stab at you. don't want to **** you off. just want you to be aware. His pics are deceiving to say the least. you are about to get ****ed.. I've been through this. Seriously just start disputing the charges now. save your self the headache. Btw his shelf kits that a friend of mine just received for an outlaw car had wheel well openings shaped like a stop sign. so dont think your in the clear cause in ain't custom. There's plenty of reputable cars running strada fronts that look great. There's just as many running exospeed kits that look great as well. For every one guy that gets a good kit, theres probably a guy that gets a rough kit, from both companies. I've saw numerous threads complaining about fitment and just as many people complimenting the fitment. I'm not worried about it. It will be right when im done with it regardless. Thanks for the input.

I'd say your best bet is to buy a good core. I used a 18x12x4.5 on my Ef.. look at my build thread for ideas if you'd like
