Default ifo rule question.

I built my car to be class legal in 62mm true street... they no longer have that. Now interior must be complete in the new 62mm class? I was always under the impression just needed to be from the back of the front seats.

INTERIOR
Doors must open and close from inside and outside the vehicle. No center drive configurations. All seats (front and back), door panels, dash, and carpet (front and back) must remain inside vehicle. No lexan allowed. No cutting allowed for weight reduction.

Yes you need full interior, I think the rules also say the car needs registration and insurance. I have both but no one ever asks for those.

So what happened to true street? Having an 8.50 cert cage and keeping interior. Lol

Mine was built around the IFO rules for FIS class. I was required to retain full interior including back seats and all plastics/panels.

From time to time we have guys shows up in small turbo street cars to run the events and they have gutted their interior from the front seats back. They end up being required to run FWD class with all the fast 67mm and 72mm cars which is not a competitive class for them to be in....

IFO has never had a "true street" class, just a 62mm FIS street car class. These rules have been in place since IFO started.

Ok with that said, am I allowed to have cut up seats and plastic to clear the cage?

Honestly when my brother was in the FIS class they didnt even check the car at all. There were people who didnt have back seats from one of the cars I saw. In fact, they didnt even check turbo size (the car had a 62mm) we were in full FIS trim but not one tech came to check the car over either

I have an 8.50 cert cage and full interior, had my cage built around the interior and it actually looks good. It's just one of those things that you have to plan all at once. I am sure if you have to go back and start adding interior after the fact it probably would suck.

Yes, I have seen guys cut holes through the seats for the cage, I had to cut a notch out of my glove box for part of my cage. But yeah if you have to cut some things to fit around you cage that is fine. They just don't want you to having missing interior, if you have back seats but they are cut up so you can have your roll cage that is fine.

Like other person said they don't really check but sometimes they do. Last IFO event I went to they just asked me what class I was in. They inspected for saftey but they weren't looking for turbo size or any of that. However they did get one guy who was trying to go into FIS with a 67mm turbo so they do check here and there.

I know this is certainly OK... We used to have a car in the Midwest area IFO class that the rear down bars for the cage went straight through the seats. I have also seen many cars with the seats folded down in back. If they are in the car in some form or fashion then it seems to pass as "full interior".

They may not check but if you start putting people on the trailer someone will rat you out. Been there done that.

Well since the closest ifo even to me is 2.5 hours away, I would rather not risk it. So does anyone have interior for a 95 hatch???
