How to remove layer of rubber on slicks?
My slicks picked up a lot of rubber from the track over time and its causing it to not hook up anymore...how do i remove it? burning out doesnt seem to take enough off there's still a thick layer on there...

x2.....I think it is time for some new slicks. Never seen a slick pick up rubber that would amount to traction loss. They like to pick up rocks and fling them everywhere...
Sounds like they are way worn, or you hit something sharp and are taking the layers apart. I had a tab on my fender well that wasn't bent up enough and hit a big bump at the end of US41 and took a nice chunk/slice out of a new set.

theyre about a year old and probably have over 100 passes on them but the indicators show there is a lot of meat left on them...i tried peeling off the rubber but only got half of it off and the part of the slick under the rubber is still sticky compared to the layer on top which is hard and cracking...took a lot of hours to get half the stuff off just wondering if there was a better way

Try a burnout on a clean asphalt road. I know the rubber your talking about and I used to get it from really slick tracks. Mine would usually wear off after a few passes at a good track though.
