how much do dynapacks cost
im moving into a new house and have a lil extra room in the garage, just wanted to know if anyone here has purchased a dynapack personally and how much it was. shops please post too.
You're better off building your own, http://www.homemadedyno.com, you can find two 55 gallon drums at the junkyard for rollers. Then all you need is some bungy straps, a laptop and a fan and you're set.

i've already tried that and it takes too much room. im trying to use as little space as possible. and i use 88 gallon drums due to traction isues. and u forgot about the water supply to cool the drums off.

I can tell you from Jeff's experience with Dynapac and other friends I know that have dynojets.
That dynopac makes sure you get everything off the bat. No hassles and their service is much better.
My other friend couldnt get Dynojet to get all his **** straight for prob like 6months of on the phone pretty much daily.
Jeff made a call to Dynapac for something and was taken care of on the spot.

Theres the homemade dyno for those that were interested.
I think the owner of the shop near me mentioned he paid close to $100k for the setup he has, but they also have two computer setups in case one goes down and also if they want to dyno two 2WD cars at once.

Thats what we got and it should be here in a few days.

DYNOmite Dynamometer offers a small 12" above ground dyno and there software and data acquisition is second to none.
We purchased there 30" unit because of the software and data acq capabilities.

Dynapacks are big money. 60+k for 2WD.

2WD or AWD?

We have a set of dynopacks and i will not run anything else ever. Just stick it in 4th gear and take off, plus the fact that you can load the car at the start of a run makes it much more realistic to a true environment that the car will be in. the only down side to them is automatic cars (we do a lot of domestic stuff) with getting a rpm signal because it is all done through the speed of the hubs and there is slippage there. The only other issue is the fwd cars with exhaust exit near the front tire. It will fire directly at the pack and its too close even with the provided spacers, you must have the last 8 inches or so be able to be removed.

2WD, not enough AWD business to justify the price and size difference, as it takes up quite a bit more space.

How about the fact that with high hp they usually overheat the dyno or with most cars you can't close the doors.
There's many things wrong with dynapak's
That's why we use Dyno Dynamics...

I didnt have any probs with closing or opening doors when mine was on one.
Also if the cooling lines are hooked up and hooked up right you shouldnt have an overheating problem.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but, are these above ground dyno's more affordable than the prices quoted in this thread. A buddy of mine was looking at a dyno pac or a dyno dynamic but were not sure if thats the best dyno's out there.
Since this is related to dyno's I have a question regarding to what is more accurate when reading WHP? I've heard so many different opinions about dyno packs vs dynojet...
What's the most "repeatable?" The DynaPack, hands down.
As far as price is concerned, yes, they are a bit more expensive (our particular 3000 2WD model ran a hair over $60,000), but they are worth every penny.
