Default Help Keep Raceway Park From Being Shut Down!!!

This is an announcement from Raceway Park's web site.
For those of you who don't know - Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ is one of the top tracks in the Northeast Tri-State Area. I'm sure most of the drag racers on this board have been down this track and even call this track their home track.
I know I will be at this meeting prepared to voice my opinion!

http://www.racewaypark.com for more info

ATTENTION RACEFANS:

Raceway Park needs your help and support!!!

On Thursday August 5th, a Public Meeting is being held to discuss the noise levels that affect the residents of Manalapan and Englishtown. Monmouth County Assemblymen Michael J. Panter and Robert L. Morgan will discuss their recent legislation proposal to remove the Motor Vehicle Racetrack Exemption from the Noise Control Act of 1971. This exemption is what makes it possible for racetracks of all types to operate unmuffled vehicles. This move would be devastating to Raceway Park, and could set off a number of changes the way racetracks operate both here in our area and all over the state. Founded in 1965, long before the wave of housing developments that now dominate our area, Raceway Park has remained a place for motorsport enthusiasts of all kinds to come and enjoy the sports they love. Raceway Park has been able to stay open these many years based largely in part on the vocal support of the many local race fans who have helped us to fend off these attacks in the past.
We now ask for that support again, so that we may silence those who oppose Raceway Park once and for all. The meeting is open to the public and will take place on Thursday August 5th at 7:00 PM in Manalapan Township at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters located at 125 Symmes Rd. The library is a mere 1/4 mile from the corner of Route 9 and Symmes Rd. and very easy to access. If you are unable to attend, please contact Assemblymen Panter and Assemblymen Morgan at 732-741-5599 and voice your opinion. You may also fax your thoughts to 732-741-0012 or contact them via email at AsmPanter@njleg.org or AsmMorgan@njleg.org. If you e-mail, please copy Raceway Park at etownrcwy@aol.com. You can send a letter to them at New Jersey General Assembly, Legislative Office, The Galleria, 2 Bridge Avenue, Bldg. 2, Red Bank, New Jersey 07701. Please come out and support Raceway Park, the home of fast family fun for over 40 years and for many years to come.

another one...

do these people who move into the area not go look around to see whats around them? Do they think a racetrackshoudlmove when it was there first? You dont see people trying ot get airports shut down do you cause of the noise?

We see and hear the same problems here at some of our local tracks.

It pisses me off everytime i hear stuff like this.

Do these city folk that think the country is quiet not relize that there is things around them, the ones usally yelling for the closure of the race tracks have never experianced a event... although.... iam gonna play the other side for a moment here...

Here in Ontario one of our local tracks - st thomas dragway is right outside a picture perfect little village, most the complaints I hear from the locals are tehy dont like the "imported rice rockets " tearing through their town at 11 pm on weekends, which is understandable, I dont like the sounds of a million bees waking me up at night either.

Its just too bad hte citizens complaining cant respect our hobbies and events, and the racers and spectators, respect them by treading quietly after event... maybe then we could all enjoy our hobbies and careers in harmony.

just my 2 cents... I really hope this doesnt happen to Etown, I have been there once, andplan on making the trip in the fall to race there... wish i could attend that meeting.

crazykid - yeah totally agree!
i think most of the fault would also go to the land developers/builders/real estate agents, i'm pretty doubtful that they inform people looking to buy & move into these areas that there is a race track near and it gets loud!

This can't happen. E-Town is one of my favorite tracks. I will call tomorrow and voice my opinion!!!

Crazykid- People have closed down airports before because of the noise. El Torro Air Force Base, located near Tustin, CA, was closed in part due to the noise level. Don't people realize where they are moving to??? The Pomona Racetrack here in CA may have the same fate. Gotta love ignorant people....

wow! thats not good. lets get the word out everyone. make sure your voice is heard. if you cant make a meeting, make calls, send faxes, write letters! **** i think we might need some rev. al type protest rally! seriously though if you have ever been here you would know what a loss this would be to the drag racing/motorsports community. we HAVE to get behind this to support the napps and everyone at raceway park.

This has been a problem for years, people complaining about the noise from Raceway Park. Even though the track does everything they can to passify these people, they still complain about the noise. We have to speak our minds to these politicians because if we dont they will do everything they can to shut down Raceway Park!!!

Even if you are not from NJ or the Tri-state area, send an email or fax, attend the meeting or whatever. Let yourself be heard. You'll not just be supporting Raceway Park, You'll be supporting drag racing and motorsports as a whole...

maybe e-town should build noise burms up around the track to absorb the noise. Just need to build up a bunch of dirt mountains with soft grass planted.

heck, they are right next to an airport, which one really makes more noise?

The amount of money that venue generates for the economy in that area would be devastating if lost to the sorrounding towns and locals! lodging, food, gas and all the other incidentals fans and racers need when attending events. I would assume that revenue generation to the locals in in the millions.

E-town needs the other local business that thrive from their existance to step up to the plate for them. I am sure their are other business on the other side of the fence but they will need the best backing they can get.

Call around to all the hotels and have them speak on your behalve, you keep those rooms full on the weekends more then anything else in the area.

Done. This is going nation-wide and with the popularity, probably international.

Where the hell is Englishtown, New Jersey? Oh yeah, it's located in Raceway Park, New Jersey.

This doesn't affect me in any way but, thats bullshit, i hate how they build subdivisions everywhere, they're like that cudzu **** (some type of plant/ivy). the people who decided to build houses need to consider all the factors for the chosen location. the raceway's seniority should win.

I've only been to Raceway Park twice, nice track but a shitty ride down there. It's funny though because my first time there I wondered how they could have a tracks so close to houses, then I realized how awesome that would be. These people don't realize how lucky they are to have a track like that right in there back yard I guess. If they really did shut the track down they would be going the complete oppsite way then what needs to be done, we need MORE tracks. I can agree with how people do make a lot of noise after an event at a track but this small problem could be solved by having police around the area.

I do plan on going to this track in the future, it would be a real shame if they shut it down .
