Default Got busted... track junkie.

Alright, so i'm from Texas and got busted for "Racing on Highway" Down here, if u all don't know, it's a class b misdemenor and u get thrown in jail with no questions asked. And that's exactly what happened... careless street racing got me thrown in the slammer and no one cared if i really was or not.

My point... well my set up is a 1997 Civic DX with H22A1 mods: intake, bent (understatement) header, CM stage3, Hondata S200 and ecutout on a stock exhaust. My axels are integra/prelude customed and my point is That i'm going to be a track junkie now and was wondering what to expect... like what to break or whatever. Track is Houston Raceway Park and i'm cranking roughly 178whp. It's going to be what I call a "Daily Driven Racecar". Easy swap rear bumper with diffuser, easy strip interior, headlight/intake, etc and all that good stuff. I've never been to the track with my car and i plan to be rolling on some 195/60/14 Falken Azenis at HRP. ONce again, just wondering what kind of problems I would run into at the track and what to expect. thanks

you shouldnt have too many problems with those tires, if you step up to slicks or really sticky radials you could have some axle issues.

Axles are the bigest issue you will have.

Actually if he gets some hop from a street tire it can kill a axle quicker than slicks.

i ran at baytown with similar power, with a 94 dx hatch, on 215/4/17s...i dropped pressure low enough to eliminate wheel hop, launched at 3500 or so rpm, pulled 2.0 6 fts and ran a 13.7, and then had to slam on teh brakes to not get kicked off after that.

Yeah.. i think you'll have some issuses with your axles depending on tires and lauch.

I have similiar power aswell.. I have a SI EG w/ LS/vtec , stock GSR head, LS block has B16 pistons. I have stock intake, exhaust and header. I have regular treaded tires.. i lowered tire pressure to 18psi... lauched at 3,000rpm and ran 13.93@100mph with 2.1 60ft... I yield around same hp as you like 175ish. No wheel hop. I

probably 175 or so hp, i have an h22a, lude cai, 2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust, hi flow cat, was running a hondata ecu at the time but i switched since then. and i did feather some it was a controlled spin. i also totally trashed the tires running tham at 16-18 psi, it tends to tear up the sidewalls a LOT.
next time i go will be with more work and on slicks....i expect low 12s then...hopefully not 11s cause i cant afford a cage right now.

No, i don't think so. But i'm not even convicted yet. I'm gonna fight it. couldn't really tell we were racing. I just had the cutout open at the time. Closed it when i saw the cops. I look completely all stock with stock exhaust and hubbies and all. oh well. I talked to an attny and he said that the police report was real shady (not in those words, of course) and that they had nothing on me.

crap really? I heard of them but have not heard anything good OR bad from them. I heard they're cheaper than http://www.driveshaftshop.com ? where's the webpage for them?

In any case, i just got me a replacement for the time being (90-93 integra axel) and i replaced only the passenger side only... bear w/me now, i need some help... Okay, i'm not exactly too sure what i originally had but i was told that it was an integra outter with a prelude inner joint? My straight up 91 integra axel fit right in. Problem though, it runs like CRAP.
Let me try to explain what's going on. When i go straight, it's fine and normal. when i get faster, it's normal... but then i hit a little hump in the road... like a little gradual one. And as i'm bouncing back up (so to speak), it makes a real violent rumble noise! Just for that moment that i'm "bouncing up" then everything's normal again. I can take right turns normally but left turns rumble just like that. and it's a RUMBLE... like holy crap wtf? Everything was put together and inspected vigorously with care Never happened before with the old axel (whatever it was) but this 91 axel does that... should it do that? do i need to modify this axel somehow? Is this normal for what it is? Thanks for the help ahead of time.
