There are plenty of outlaw 10.5 cars built right now with the same fuel cell location as I have.

Yeah, only stipulation on it being outside the frame rails is that there has to be a 1.25" chromoly tube around it, as far as safety goes.

So as of right now, for 'outlaw', there is no rule on placement. I'm building my cell right now. I'm not really concerned about Battle, i'll run "Hot Rod" over there if I need to.

the battle rules state that you can run a fuel cell but has to mount in the same area ad the factory fuel tank! if it enters the car in any way it must have a cover to keep any spillage outside the car. per nhra!

Chad, is there no rules about cutting out floor boards in the street class? I understand a fuel cell goes through the floor and fills the hole, but that is kinda the same thing as cutting the floor off and just laying tin over it as well.

it was because the fuel cell is too thick to mount compleatley ont the bottom! there is also a cover that takes its place! we are building the cells ourselves now that compleatly go under the car and use the factory fuel nozzle!

i hate to do a fuel cell and show up to a race and have them turn me away.. cause this is confusing??? in stock location ok? looks like a pain to re-fuel.

I thought the rules for "outlaw" were the same as sfwd minus the tires and turbo restrictions. Are we allowed to place the cell upfront in outlaw?

not sure miller but if you want to be able to go to boti also i would try to keep within both rules! and if you did it would save a ton of money on steel braided line and fittings. LOL!

Sfwd didn't allow cells at all, but now they are allowed, that's why I'm asking about location.

i am pretty sure they did the last season, along with nopi. You were allowed a 5 gallon in the factory placement. I mean screw it, if we are allowed to put it up front i am all for it but i dont want to o it and hear people bitch its not in the spirit of the class.

Yeah, turbo street allowed them. I never paid attention to the details of them in TS and I assume those rules aren't posted anymore?

tony you could mount the cell in the stock location with your skills, but do you care about being able to run battle! your running air to air right!

I know I can mount one in the stock location but I thought it was obvious that's not what I had in mind. LOL

As far as running battle, there is only 1 race around me so if anything on my car is not legal for the street class, I'll just run the next class up.

I have one of NRG tech's bolt is five gallon fuel cells in my car. It goes in the factory place and utilizes stock fill and -8's on the sump. I wanted to put it up in the front of the car but i didnt think it was legal.

Back in the day, I used to race P/I BOTI in Chicago in a car that I drove to the track, against all the other HOTROD prepped cars. I even beat Brent Rau in that car! I gutted it and put in lexan windows a year later.
It'll be just like the old days again!
