Default Front bumper exit downpipe

Anyone running a front bumper exit downpipe on their car? I searched this and had a hard time finding an answer but a few of my buddies mentioned that sometimes on launch, the flames from the exhaust trip the timing lights at the line. Has anyone had this issue? Id rather route the downpipe thru the bumper as opposed to thru the hood so I dont take a change of getting rain in it if the car was to get stuck outside. Plus its a b*tch when you have to wash the car. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks!

I've staged my all motor CRX with a side exit before at the track and redlit once I bring it up to launch RPM. Funny thing is it would redlight in the right lane at my local track every time but never in the left lane.

not sure if the actual exhaust flow has something to do with it or if the car is just too dang low.

JJ Motorsports runs their exhaust through the bumper and has had issues with tripping the beams. They have a bunch of vids on youtube if you search

Thats kinda strange. Does it happen every time in the right lane?

No issues at all? Awesome. This is the route I want to go. Only thing is, both of your cars are forward facing setups. Im planning to go with a topmount. Might be a little harder to get the downpipe out of the bumper. Good thing I have one hell of a fabricator!

Does anyone have pics under the hood? maybe some with a topmount manifold?

Thanks for all the input so far!

no issues here... only problem was mine had another smaller muffler hanging from the bottom which would confuse the lights as to what the actual front of my car was. but thats not the side dumps fault its my fault for fabbing it so low!

Mine exits the passenger side front and it hasn't tripped the beams.

Welfarepc- Those videos look rowdy! I love the bumper exit. Im glad that alot of people arent having an issue with that. thanks for the vids!

Inspector01- thanks for sharing that pic. I like seeing the different setups that people come up with. RHD is badass!

Jnv255- yours is routed to the passenger side front? What style manifold are you running?

If you watch the video you can see how the DP itself trips the beams then the flames do as well. There's was really low but i think they raised it and solved the issue.

Ya man that seemed really low.. Its crazy to see those flames make the staging lights go nuts.

Ok, Im gonna be completely honest. This is the car that made me decide to have to routed thru the front bumper. Thing is sick!!! I was going to do a forward facing manifold but I didnt know if I would have to run a pump from the oil drain of the turbo to the oil pan.

No you don't have to run a pump for the oil, I would say 90% of the forward facing are designed where gravity does the job just fine.

Here's my little fireball starter. Notice it's pointed up slightly for maximum dB travel on the streets. :p

Don't mind the bumper gap, it's fixed.
