Default first time at the track since may

i didnt really know if i should post up in AM forum or here but i went to the track for the first time since may. i dont have a good excuse for not going but i just didnt go during the year. i guess i got sidetracked with the purchase of my other toy (a boat)
so, i only got 4 passes due to a axle failure on the 4th pass. first failure in about 2 years. thanks DSS.
the cars 1/8th mile best was previously was 7.37 which i did last year at a 1/4 mile track and the same ET at this track i ran at today.
i should also mention im on brand new MH slicks. i previously had MTs and the reason i switched is because i couldnt get the car to 60 with the MTs. thanks MH john.
first pass off the trailer i ran a 7.32 @96 with a 1.69 60. also on that pass was a special moment for me. we ran an optional 5/10ths pro tree and i got a perfect RT. first time in 9 yrs ive ever had a perfect RT on any type of tree.
second pass i ran a slightly better time of 7.31 @96.
last pass and my best pass i ran a 7.23@97 on a 1.65 60'. i was ecstatic with the results.
i think the car should run mid 1.6 60s and below consistently and i struggled on the MTs to even touch the high 1.6s at all pressure levels. ive had MH slicks before and thats who i got my best 60's on. ran them down to the 1.61 before. i honestly think it should run high 1.5s but maybe i dont have the TQ to pull that off.
anyways, thought i would share with the group. i wont be at the track until next year cause everything is closed thats close to me. now i wanna see what the car will do at the 1/4. i still have some bigger cams to try out.
thanks DSS for the axles that dont give out after 6-7 passes and thanks to john at MH slicks.

what size slicks are you using. i ran that same time with my crx pushing 230hp good job you should run it in th 1/4 mile and see what it does. how much you pushing with that motor?

my car weighs about the same as yours. So your best time so far in the 1/4 mile is low 11"s? Do you plan on building a bigger motor for your car?

best time based on today would be low 11s. but my best that ive actually ran was 11.51 last year at the 1/4.
calculated out it should have ran a 11.27 on that 7.23 pass.
ive been wanting to do a 95mm motor but that hasnt happened. i had a K24 and a TSX head but i just thought it was too expensive to get the K series in the car. plus i didnt want to have to "learn" a new motor/ECU system. im not as "into" racing as i used to be so it seems to be a waste of time on the K series.
at least i know the B series in and out so theres no trial and error.
ive had the bigger cams for over a year and still havent even put those in. i just need to put the pro 3s in there and see what it will do.

the pro 3 should help you out in the hp area and also bring your power band higher. Do you have any pictures or video of your car? if so i would like to see them.

yep, based on what ive seen from others swapping from pro 2s to pro 3s in a setup similar to mine i would hope for 10whp. the thing gets revved higher than hell as its peak power comes about 8700-9200 if i remember right. i do have some vids from a night race last year at a track. i have some pics too on photobucket. ill post them up.

vids were at night they pretty much suck. i know the car was rolling at the line. i wasnt using my staging brake at the line. my burnouts suck because i couldnt get enough pressure in the rear brakes at the angle i had the staging brake sitting at. thats not an issue now. these were from last year.

well the track was physically cold today until i broke. by the time they had all the cars going over the track warming it up and the sun starting to shine i only anticipated better 60s john.
im happy with the slicks. if you look at 60 and ET only at this exact track, the MH slicks are running a full tenth faster than my old MTs. however the car ran 1-2mph faster today than earlier this year and that probably accounts for the change.
then if i look over my slips from a different track last year compared to my runs today im running the same MPH as i did today and the same 60' it still shows the MH slicks are running 1/10th faster.
whatever the reason, good day.

Its just such a clean car. . .

its kinda hard to say john. i woke up early to get the car on the trailer and all that. i let my dogs out to go potty and i was standing outside in my underwear. that didnt bother me. by the time i got to the track the temp dropped. i could see my breath. besides the wind blowing it definitely got colder in that 2 hr span. i dont think they had the weatherstation program turned on for the timeslip printout.
i just checked my timeslip no weather station info.

It looks like it was cold, that is good performance. Wait untill it warms up, and the 60ty's will come down. It sounds like you have the car set up nice.

go f2b. Just look at the f20b as a big b-series with capabilities of a k series platform. cost less than a k series and the b series trannies are proven to hold the power on high hp n/a builds.

rocker arm issues were the main issue on H series. plus i know my B series in and out. im just not that into the thing anymore to be throwing more wild ideas and money at it.
thanks for the advice though.

CONGRATS again on your new PB. I was scarred to reply to your 2nd text that said "BROKE". Didn't want to know what it might meen. Could of been borke out, broken axel, tranny, motor, ect.
Glad to hear it was something minor.
See you at the track in 09'
