Default Firewall for relocated battery

According to the tech at the strip I went to last weekend, the NHRA dropped the battery-box rule in favor of a firewall rule. He also really wanted to enforce the kill switch rule; if I hadn't been such a sweet talker, I think he would have stuck by his guns. So, not that I think my 13 sec car really needs any of this junk, but I figure it's in my best interest to comply.

My plan is to make a skeleton out of 3/4" aluminum strips to cover the corner of the car that the battery's in, then cover the skeleton with aluminum sheets with a big grommet for all the wires going in and out, then cover all that with carpet so it still resembles a normal interior kinda, and then bolt the whole "firewall" to the car somehow so i can still take it off to get at the battery. will that be sufficient? Do I need to actually seal the edges with silicon or anything? do I still need to vent the area (it's a dry-cell battery)? will i still need a battery box?

thanks guys.

you may be right... i can't find anything on nhra.com prohibiting them. but it does say that you can go either way, so i guess my questions still stand, since i think i'd prefer the custom route.

I was told that the battery box has to be sealed and vented for it to be NHRA legal. The NHRA tech told me to use the Moroso battery box, and i have not had a problem with tech since.
