Default Engine Diaper

Lower engine restraint device (i.e., engine diaper) mandatory. The device must be designed and fabricated so as to contain oil and debris from contacting the racing surface in the event of engine failure. The device may attach directly to the engine, or may attach to the frame/body. Design and construction must utilize absorbent material to contain oil.

Any companies fabin' this part yet? Price figures?

I can't even attempt to qualify for the all motor class.......dammit....

i have checked and no one makes one at this time, the people that i have talked to say maybe 5 months, also there is no specs on this from nhra so that you can make something your self.it also says something about a drip type pan with absorbent material,i dont think that a drip pan will work very well it will help but not do the job that they want.its a good rule but there is no product available how do they expect us to comply?at this point in time we cant go to nhra because of this rule

so what are you thinking? maybe build some sort of "catch tray" that would be maybe an inch or so "deep/tall" but what would we use so that it would absorb oil/coolant?

the best thing would be a diaper.i think that it is a waste of time and money to fab a pan of some kind,as soon as the diapers are ava. iam sure that your going to have to have one

maybe someone should contact NHRA and let them know that there isnt anything available yet and that they haven't provided specs to us either. So nobody wants to fab something and then have them say that it doesnt met regulations. Fontana maybe a dismal turn out if nothing is done ....im trying to debut that weekend

Have you guys seen the ones from Summit or Jegs? they look like we might be able to adapt them to imports, but it appears that the oil pan sits in the Diaper. I would be worried about the Balancer catching the edge of it or something of that nature.

C'mon guys, get creative here. It just has to contain oil and coolant in the case of an engine failure. There are race cars and they do blow up every now and then. Since there isn't anything available right now, they're gonna be pretty cool about it. Just make a tray of some sort that goes under the engine and put some sort of absorbent material in it. It's not going to be a 100% seal, but will minimize downtime from cleaning the track quite a bit.

Hey everyone. I'm a friend of Dennis Taylor from Taylor Motorsports. They are the one that Skelly is referring to, and I just got off the phone with him about this link. He wanted me to let you all know that they have done a diaper for the 2JZ *Venom, and Bullish*, and they just did one for an Ecotec motor *Kubo*. What he needs is an engine with all the accesories on it. i.e. header, oil pan, head, valve cover. Basically a complete motor on a stand and he will make it. If it is a turbo motor, he needs the turbo on there also, so he can make clearance. He wanted me to say that he is trying to keep the price around 350.00 which isn't too bad. I am putting a link on here to them. So if anyone is halfway close, i.e. Hollandracing then give them a call and get a motor to them....

These guys know what they are doing. if you happen to look at most top fuel dragsters, they all have a little "T" on them. Most use Taylor products..

a good oil/water absorber is a product called "pig mat" we use it in our shop all the time. get it from Wurth-less products if you want to wait forever or source it somewhere else. Just put it in the bottom of a fabbed pan?!?!?

Hell, buy two of them and adapt it. Could work.
