Axle has nothing to do with the lower ball joint. The ball joint is pressed into the knuckle.

You'll need to remove the axle, steering tie rod, upper ball joint nut and brakes. Take the knuckle off and press it out.

or if you are good with an air hammer there is no need to take the upper off.
thats the flat rate way to do it. not saying it is right, but i have made good money doin it that way.

if the axle doesnt, it was installed improperly.
its not a press fit. it may need to be tapped out, but should come out of the spindle.

what i want to do is remove the entire control arm and take my time to learn how to do it right so i can do the other side while still on the car, and in the future be sure i can optimize my time as well.

i only asked this because i could have sworn i was told that they were pressed in.

thank you for the help man

I did my first set of lower ball joints just a year ago or so. I took a chisel and 2 lbs mini sledge. It was a lot easier than I thought. Oh, and a vice.
