I've seen every episode and I'm officially addicted! I've always wondered and pondered how one starts out and achieves a ride in the Powerade series. Watching the show answers a lot of questions....John force is known by many and respected by many and is a 13 time World Champion...Do you think he would do all over again knowing it would tear his family apart?(must have seen all the episodes up until yesterday) Let me pose a question to you fellow HT'ers...Would you sacrifice your wife, girlfriend, family and friends to go race the Powerade series(Top fuel dragster,Funny Cars and Pro Stock?) This show has me thinking a lot lately...we suppossedly do this hobby, sport or what have you, for the love of it, is anyone trying to make a career out of racing? Is enough ever enough? What exactly does hardcore mean to you?

I don't mean to get all philosophical, but this really got me thinking. I'm curious to what others think as well

disclaimer: You could bring your family and friends along but factor in the amount of focus needed. One more thing, the deal is that you had to start from the beginning not as a hired gun....manage and fund your team with sponsorship of course

I've been watching "driving force" for about 2 weeks. His daughters are hott and they run the 1/4 mile in under 9 sec and over 170+(and thats just the youngest one). It must suck having 3 girls to carry his legacy but it seems like there doing a damn good job. I give the show I tivo it every week now!

I have no wife, I have no girlfriend. Last 2 left me. Am I sad? Hell no because I am doing what I love to do. The hardest part of it all is that I dont see my family that much anymore. I havent been home since Christmas and it hurts a little. Actualy a lot. But my family all understand this is what I want to do. During events they call me to see how I am doing and they now support me. My parents can't be mad because they taught me to give everything my all, and I am doing that.

I have a house with no furniture in it. Think I am joking? I only have a bed and other things to let me live day to day. I watch TV on the floor. My living room has only 2 things in it, a TV and a DVD player with some dvd's scattered around the floor. Its a nice house, but with noting in it. I figure if I find a girl that can stand me that'll be her job if she is willing to do that..lol

I will do what ever it takes to go race, unless it affects my personal health. I used to only sleep 2-3hrs per night last year and it killed me in so many ways. I spoke to Steve Bothwell a few weeks ago and he said I needed to slow down and rest more. Look who's talking!! But I take his advice very very seriously and I've had to slow down a bit. But I seriously don't know what else I would be doing if I wasnt racing.

To answer your question if I would sacrafice everything? Yes I kinda already am. Why stop now???

I really like that show because its shows a side of drag racing many do not get to see. The hours and hours of time and preparation, the hard work it takes to keep a team going. And the sacrifices that are made sometimes unwillingly. Too Many people like to bench race, when they know nothing of driving all night in the truck to a race only to break something second pass of qualifying. For those that love to race they will do whatever it takes, and sometimes that can cost a great deal not only monetarily but physically, and emotionally as well. John Force is a racer, a true driver and that shows threw, his love for racing and to share that with his family is what we all would like to have.

I would scrafice it all to go racing in the POWERade circuit or to campain all motor in NHRASC. Racing is something I like to do and muy ultimate goal is to do it full time traveling across the country, bringing home wallies, and having fun. The key is letting your girlfriend know upfront that this is my passion and its not just a hobby, im trying to make a career out of racing. And we should never waver from that position or they may not take us seriously about drag racing. I tell my girl all the time, if i dont put any time into racing, how will i become good.

Think about the sacrifice the lucas oil guys make or some of the other divisions and sanctioning bodies. The key is that it has to be a buy in from the family for it to work. They must be at the track week end and week out and particpate so that they feel they have some part in it.

I have watched it a couple of times. I can say the guy seems really cool, trying to look out for what's best for his family, plus his HQ are 5mins. away from me

One thing that I dislike are his daughters attitudes. they need to clean up their act and realize what their dad is trying to do rather than worry about looking "hot"

just my .02

Couldn't agree more...he is always talking about how he feels like a failure and is now trying to get the family back together but the girls seem like they dont want any part in that....the last episode they looked like things might be starting to change...we'll see though!
