Drag strips?..
For all the southern ca, honda enthusiast driver's, do ya'll know of any other legitimate and legal 1/4 mile track other then LACR in Palmdale/Lancaster, CA? I heard a rumor they are shutting it down, not sure for what reason, maybe due to lack of business. If anyon else know's, please chime in, I can't seem to find any other places. TIA!
LACR is owned by the neighboring gravel company. LACR just rented the land from them for the last 20 or so yrs. Well now that company wants the gravel under LACR and wants to tear it down.
Famoso in bakersfield is another track that is opened on friday nights. Im not sure about the weekends though. There track is 1/4 but the track is not that great. If its windy alot of dirt gets kicked up onto the track which always happens and makes our time slower.
Pomona thats is open to us for like twice a year, Fontana is about the same, Im not sure if they are open are on the weekends or if they ever were unless its a track day.
Irwindale speedway in irwindale is only 1/8, but you have to get there early if you want a few(3+) runs. That place gets very packed very quickly.....
Terminal Island, thats a whole other story aswell. Supposedly there going to open that back up. But I highly doubt it just like the rest of the 710 was to be made by the year 2010

I recently heard about the Pomona and Fontana, but being open is questionable, Irwindale, I can imagine the amount of people, but its only 1/8, not much enjoyable like LACR's 1/4 mile. 2010 a bit too long for me, I might be out of the Honda scene again by 2010.

Fontana has street legal days, but you have to be registered and insured. not enough of the street legals but better than none... irwindale is great for testing crowded but if you get there early you can get runs. palmdale just sucks now. no traction and no prepping of the track. no more carlsbad, pomona once or twice a year. looking forward to battle of the imports at fontana in July, and then idrc there in november. but DAMN we need a new track! 1/4 mile thats open more than once every three months! hopefully that dragcity project actually gets done.
