I've been using some nitto drag radials (205/55/R14) on my civic for quite a while now when i head up to the track. I'm always playing around with the psi, trying to find what works best.

From what I've experienced ~20psi works best from me.

More then that & the 60' is slower cuz of less traction.
Less psi then that & the 60' is slightly quicker, but my trap mph is slower & et is slower.

Does this sound about right? Just wondering cuz everyone else i c using drag radials seem to have them with almost no air at all.

I have the same tires on some 14x5.5 HX wheels. Last time I was at the track I was running 12psi in the tires. I have only ran them at the track once, but they felt pretty similar to slicks at that tire pressure. I was dumping the clutch from 5.5k and they were hooking pretty well. When I am street racing I run anywhere from 16-20psi, just depends on what the street/track is like.

15-20 psi

9-12, depending on track conditions and wheel hop. if you can get them to **** up at 20 than the would be best.all depends on the car

thats what i was wondering cuz all u guys run it at lower psi's then me & my 60's i think can be improved, so i was looking for some reasons why.

for example, i was at fontana yesterday.........
at 20 psi my 60' was 2.35 & i ran a 14.97 @ 94.3mph
at 18 psi my 60' was 2.30 & i ran a 15.07 @ 93.5mph

so yea, that how it always goes. 18psi is the lowest i've tried, but i see no reason to go lower cuz i seem to run slower & trap lower speeds even though it improves my 60'.

Every 1/10 you drop off your 60ft will cut about 2/10 off your ET. Traction is very important when drag racing. I would try 15psi or maybe a little lower just to see how it works. I'm sure you will have to launch at a higher rpm, but it will hook better.

How are you launching when your at the track?

I was there yesterday at fontana too. I was runnign a 2.4 using 20 psi on toyo t1-s. I think oyu shoudl def lower your tire pressure if you are only getting a 2.3 0-60ft. you shoudl be hitting like 1.8-2.0

still every track is differnt i couldnt get a 2.2 on street tires.. but a friend runnign the same setup as I, but using azenis at 18 psi hit 2.2 0-60ft

at lacr i can manage a 2.2x 60'.

fontana seemed a little slicker so that why my 60's weren't quite as good. but yea, i do think they can be improved.

but basically depending on how the track is feeling, i rev up to about 6500-7000 & let the clutch out very fast, but i dont totally dump it. then i hold the gas steady until i feel the tires hooking up, then i step on it.

yea, i guess next time i'll drop the psi around 15psi & c how it goes.
