Code 9 driving me crazzzzy!
Anyone know why I could keep throwing code 9 (cyp sensor) and keeps coming down to ecu!!! What crazy things has anyone seen cause this code? Already replaced dizzy, replaced wire harness with rywire harness and still same bullshit! HELP!
My friend had a code 9 that drove him crazy for awhile. Everything checked out fine. It was a brand new distributor and two wires from distributor to the distributor plug were switched. Like someone messed up at the factory.
Just trying to get as much input as possible due to this haunting me for near 3yrs. now. Nothing seems to add up besides a bad ecu but dont want to keep buying ecu's if this is going to keep happening. Replaced ecu last year and lasted 1 year/6k miles and ran flawless. Even installed ecu into another vehicle and also threw code 9. Sounds obvious but told ecu's are ok.

If your getting this code with aftermarket distributors then thats your problem I have seen it time and time again. get a factory distributor and the problem will be gone.
The car has always been on a factory distributor. The story behind this issue is car orginally got tuned at t1, had wastegate issues. After switching to a tial and figuring out the htz needed to be changed for the boost solenoid car was ready for more boost. While driving it back and forth to work making sure everything was good to get tuned, did a pull threw 3rd and in the upper rpms it popped the code 9. Still took it to mkc for a tune, chad spent a lot of time trying to figure it out. Never could get the code to turn off with hondata, put Neptune on and there was no code. Ended up leaving and trying to talk to hondata which they said wasn't one of their issues. So bought a new socketed Ecu installed the s300 loaded the.last tune started up and no code. Drove back and forth make sure it wouldn't pop up again. After no issues went back to mkc and was tuned to 720hp with ease. Car was driven for a little over a year with no issues until one day was doing a 3rd or 4th pull in the upper rpms and the code 9 came back. Trouble shot it again and figured would send both ecus out to be checked. Both ecus were bench tested and was told they both performed flawless. So then everyone's answer was there was a wiring issue that's causing it. Even after doubting a wiring harness issue since its been checked over and over with even running new wires from the.Ecu to the dizzy, bought a rywire harness. And that's where we are now Ecu has been checked, new wire harness and still code 9. A few things we were curious of is how far out of adjustment does the cam need to be to throw the code? Never did cam timing so didn't know if with the head and block being decked if with the cam gears set at 0 it could be right on the edge of being to much and throw the code. Hope this is all understandable typed this on my phone.
Mikesrex wouldnt that cause a code right off the bat? This is happening out of the blue during pulls in third or forth in upper rpms.
Blown90hatch no misses or issues other than the code.

ok well if its a honda distributor then i would be curious as to what vehicle its in. I say this because you mentioned getting a new harness from rywire and Im not sure if you ment enigne harness or ecu conversion harness. If its a conversion harness check to make sure that the wires from the harness are going to the right places I have seen before even from a rywrie harness where the cyp and tdc wires were switched in the harness which runs the car but had phantom codes like yours.
Also Im pretty sure that cam timing has nothing to do with it because as far as i know CYP is entirely determined from the distributor wich is cam driven and assumes that the mechanical timing is correct to follow.
