Default Car sitting on slicks for a while

I have always been a street racer and just got my first set of slicks. I have never left them on the car for long and always keep them in the house where it's climate controlled. Am I over doing it? Can the car sit on slicks overnight, a week, month, or does it matter at all?

Slicks tend to loose pressure fast. I take them off and store them in a sealed plastic bag until the next time I use them.

I would always just jack it up a bit so the tires are just off the ground

Now I keep the car on some old street tires and put the slicks on when I get to the track and put the street tires back on before I put the car on the trailer to come home.

I don't mind doing it that way, I just never see pics of drag cars on street tires so I didn't know if I was too worried about it.

No most people just jack them up or on a lift

I do a lot of side work at home, so I move the car almost once a week. I'll stick to the street tires. Lol

Yeah when I know I'm not racing for a while I throw street tires on it to move it around

I drive with slicks on the street ... I park it like any other car. For about 50feet you can feel the flat spots but goes away fast.

I was expecting a huge range of answers and that's what I got. Lol. It sounds like I'm slightly over protective of my slicks, but I don't mind doing what I do and I can't afford to keep replacing slicks cause I got lazy. I have to get every pass possible out of them.

Also, after watching videos of 8-9 second cars, I'm wondering if I'm doing too long of a burn out. Are they doing third gear burnouts? I do second gear and let off when the e-brake won't hold the car anymore. It holds the rear tires, but it just drags them after about 3-4 seconds.

This car has only been to the track once and run on low boost. Traction bar broke so it ended my day after 3 runs. It's 2000lbs with me in it, 270ish hp on low boost. Launch at 6k with 23" slicks pulling 1.7 60'.

Maybe Im lazy, but I just dont give a f***. LOL. Ive never known anyone to swap slicks, or worry about them sitting, other than import guys. Although on my dad's Chevelle, we used to put street tires on, because one slick would always go flat, and it was a b**ch to air them up when it was in the trailer.

I won't even drive on the trailer with good slicks ,they only last 10-15 hits max on higher power cars . when you spend 2-3000$ a year on tires for a good long race season why waste any rubber or risk Harding the compound from a shitty environment... I won't even put them in the back of the truck I always put them in the car and store them in a safe place at the shop as to not get any oil r anything else on them. These cars can shred a tire in a few passes if your not carefull with what your doing. I can't stress enough how important it is to take care of your tires. Maybe I'm just crazy I dunno lol.

I was really hoping to get 50+ passes out of mine. Lol. I don't see why not at sub 500hp.

Being that I'm on a super tight race budget I do take very good care of mine cause I can't afford to be stupid/lazy and have to buy more.

On lower power your fine but you will see your short track times fade after awhile.

FWIW MT and M&H say to take the tires off, air them down to 5 psi, and store them in a dark climate controlled place.

I drive my car as much as I can right now, even have snow tires on it this winter, so the slicks are in my storage room in the basement, out of the way with my c/f hood and nitrous bottles lol. If only I could find a way to put my spare engine down there as well.

I always take my slicks off and put street tires on after I race.

Our car only has slicks on when racing. At the shop, in the trailer, and just sitting around the car has street tires on it.

Also, regardless of hits or power, slicks are pretty much garbage after one year. Keep an eye on the date stamp on the sidewall.
