they need to start promoting this stuff NOW. we shouldnt be asking if they are holding a series or not! get the racers excited about it, get racer input, better advertising for the events this year is absolutely mandatory, and some how some way the payouts are going to have to go up to make it worth while for people to travel.

last i talked to jason it sounded like they had some things in the works, its time get things going!

Joe are you trying to say that communicating with the racers and not leaving them in the dark is a good business plan?

I am just wondering IF they are having a national series next year? What are their plans. I dont care to see a schedule yet, I just want to know whats up? How many races are they planning, just a ballpark guess.

Does anyone know which of their races had the best spectator turnout and which had best racer turnout? What were those numbers?

How about class 1, class2, class 3, etc? JK. All the cool names like funny car, top fuel and promod are used up.

It would be nice to be able to see some of the races on TV. Hopefully BOTI gets a TV deal with Speed,Versus (good enough for Hockey and IRL),Spike or whomever. You can forget about ESPN or ESPN2,big bucks and they don't have the programing room.

Hello Joe, many things we discussed are happening...

As an employee of BOTI, I can only make certain suggestions and recommendations to the staff about "what the racers want."

Lately, those words have been selfishly mangled to accommodate “what’s best for me”.

off the record.... my comments are not anyway affiliated with battle and is my personal outlook on this topic and the comments made by ht users in this forum and the sc drag racing community .

I have been working very hard to try and accommodate everyone and make sure all of your voices are heard as a community and as an individual. But it becomes very discouraging to see users on this forum bash and personally attack respected supporters of sc drag racing and its affiliates. Personally, I should take it like a grain of salt... its ht right?

But it really bothers me why I spend my day, hard working for people that don’t have any appreciation of what I’m/were trying to do. I do realize that many of us were directly affected by nhras departure and nopis spiraling downfall, but why do I keep feeling like everyone is here to push all that weight on battles lap like it’s our mess to clean up? Is that fair? Or better, is it right to change battles platform because the major series support was no longer?

I’ll be the first to admit faults, and I have made plenty. Seeing both spectrums of NHRA/ NOPI and Battle working for and racing in both series, I can see the bigger picture that most can’t even comprehend the nature of the business and the sacrifices that have been made on both sides. All this community sees is self loathing and selfish remarks of what this series, that series did, or is going to do and all this negativity spreads like cancer with no end in sight. Will there be a light at the end of the tunnel? Should there be?

Many people I have spoken with have mixed feelings about the whole situation and what "is best to remedy the situations at hand". And some of you may say negative things about my post but I’d like to share my hopes so that it might help you all look at this as a positive.

All hail sport compact drag racing.

Parker

I think that sc racing is suffering right now due to the economy and gas prices. I know that gas pricing kept me away from many races this year, not to mention my place to race went away(for awhile ). Plus you are dealing with a demographic, for the most part, doesnt have a clue about anything.

Jason,
I respect what you are saying and is true to the T! Let me share my insight on what i have seen go wrong with the sport compact series BOTI IDRC NHRA ETC....

Many of us started racing with little to nothing in our names. We worked hard and ate little to make i tto events just to run times whos fater then who etc. the series nowadays are too focused on the pros and not on the grassroots of the series. Their are still new up and coming youngsters wanting to race and then get discouraged because they pay X amount of $ and cant get any runs in after slaving to get teh car ready and there at the track, inturn the pros get the red carpet treatment. It is a shame to see the birth place of import drag racing reach its high point then fall down to where it is now.

I think most look at it the wrong way. I go to the event to have fun and hang out with my friends, we all have a blast. This year I've made the BOTI Events, the early NOPI events, the Import VS Domestic at Etown and also the Survival Series events at Etown. Keep in mind I have a mid 10sec car which is very slow nowadays... For those who really want to go out there and race, you will have fun. I find that a lot of people make excuses. This year I cannot tell you how many people I know that did not run their cars for bs reasons. When I asked them why, they really had no reason?

I ran at Fall Nationals at Etown, there were only 4 cars in the SportRWD class, and only 2 made it to eliminations. I ended up winnng the class with a BS 11sec pass. Where was everyone else? That was a great event to go to but yet only 4 cars showed up? SportFWD was packed! Yes, times are tough right now. I chose to skip the test and tune sessions and just use my time trials at an event to test the car out. For $50 (at most) you will get a min of 2 qualifying or test passes. Then in eliminations you will get at least 1 pass and if you are lucky a few more. A basic test and tune is $20 for 3 passes so I just go to the events and test the car there. If it's a 2 days event, skip day 1 and just go on day 2. Most events will have 1 qualifying pass on day 2.

I read a lot of negative posts about sport compact drag racing on there but the last 2 events I went to were packed. 1 was Pan American Nationals and the other was the Fall Nationals at Etown. I ran at both of those events and had a lot of fun. Someone just posted about another event at Etown on Oct 26th, it's an Import Survival Series. Looks like that thread is on page 3 any almost no one responded if they will be running or not. It seems to me that some on here find it more fun to be negative on here about every little detail than to take your car to the track and run it.

Ditto the above post...We have a HR that we raced this year in NOPI, BOTI, Pan Ams, Fall Nationals, and we will be at the World Cup Finals at MIR. As most of you know who I am you know that most of the time I had the slowest car in the class or the most broke car in the class. I didn't race this car to win every race, I raced it because it is fun. I love doing this weather I lose or accidentially win. I have met some graet people and that is more important to me than keeping up with the Kenny Trans of the world.

We are 100% self sponsored team. No one gives us anything, and I'm OK with that because we don't have to meet anyones expectations except our own. And in all reality how many people race their cars with the sole purpose of earning a living at it? If thats why anyone races then they are dooing it for the wrong reasons. We use each event as a tool to try and teach our 3 kids the life skills they will need to succeed in life. I want them to know that you can't do anything by yourself and that you only get what you are willing to work for.

So no matter who does what with a series we will race everytime we have the chance and the funds to; regardless if it's put on by a sanctioning body or an individual track.

PS. I had the Talon there for SRWD but they put us in brackets and it was too late to change it when we realize it. But we lost 2nd gear on the 1st pass anyway so it wouldn't have made a difference....lol

Once again.... Its about the LOVE for the Game... For being one person that was at the first Battle way back in 1990. Probably before alot of you trash talkers were even thinking of driving. Some of you were still a twinkle in your dads eye.

Frank and the rest of the BOTI staff have been working all year to make sure the '09 season is a success... Everytime I talkl to Frank at the track or on the phone, he has very positive things to say about next season. I see next season for BOTI being just as good if not better than this year. 19 strait years... NOBODY else in the industry can say that.

Instead of bashing and the selfishness, I think we all need to thank BOTI for sticking around and giving us all a place to race in a sport that we all love. I can say that in the last 18 years, I have made many great friends that I still speak to today from all over the World. Be grateful that Frank stuck his neck out for all of us 18 years ago.

Mr.Parks no one is attacking you personally or the BOTI organization,at least I am not. Many are just looking for info on next year plans (Tv package, races) so they can start selling sponsorship packages. Unless you do not think BOTI need the PRO guys to participate.

can't expect BOTI to come through and save the day and race at every track across the country. I don't know the numbers for BOTI for this year but it seems as though they had a pretty good year for turnouts so I would hope they can expand to a few more races but I don't expect them to run a schedule like NHRA does. Thanks BOTI for all that you've done so far and I hope next year is even better!

Please dont think I am here to bash cause I am not. I just want to see if they are gonna race next year so I can start lobbying on behalf of my awd brethren.

Sure, we all love to race but im not going to travel to get 3-7 passes with no insentives or rewards based off of my placing. If you travel to a race and there is 20+cars in that class and you place top four and you beat 17-20 other cars you should be rewared for your accomplishments. If it is a big race then make it feel like a big race. Dont make us feel like we are doing little boy ****.

We are spending lots of money and time on our cars and its a real slap in the face when you work your *** off to get a car where its competitive and it means absolutly nothing when you do good.

Im not saying there should be 10.000 to first place. Its pretty simple. Add 50-100.00 dollars to our entry and roll it into the class and spread it out to the people that earned it.

We dont need outside sponsors to help with payouts. We can do this on our own as seen last weekend in Jersey. I had a horrible weekend but at least I felt like I was part of something big.

I know it might sound selfish but sometimes that perfect timeslip just isnt enough.
