Backspacing & drag rims?
I found a local dealer selling the new Weld Racing 13x8's for FF cars at a decent price and wondered what back spacing would work best on a 99-00 Civic Si? BTW, these new drag rims are 6lbs each, forged and come with adapters to run standard lugs.
we sell Welds and we mostly sell the 5" backspace. If your local shop knew what they were doing, they should be able to help you out in detail on the proper sizing for your slick size and brake setup. good luck.
I'm getting a special price from a direct wholesaler in my area. I also happen to live only miles from where Weld Wheels are made. Since i'm not going directly through a dealer, I dont get the dealer "support" on what backspacing to use. I'm willing to bet someone here has tried the new Weld Draglites on a Si or GSR and can say without a doubt that they fit properly?

The new Racelite's. I looked at them in person today and they look very nice and they are VERY light. I just want to be sure I walk out with the set that will fit my car best. He also had an old style 2 piece set of 13x8's (with the gold center section) which were not quite as light but he wanted to get rid of those for only $175/ea which is a steal considering they retail for $290. Then again, i'd much rather go with the new style since they are lighter and IMO they looked better.
As for paying more at a true shop, we dont have any local import shops that carry these wheels, and if they did, they probably wouldnt know what fit best anyhow. Now if I lived in Cali or Texas I wouldnt have this problem, but I dont live in or even remotely near "the main import scene".

Thanks, and yea its tough... I'm my own support when something goes wrong. Then again, I also like being one of the quickest Hondas in my area.
Now if I could just find a decent price on some 22x8x13 M&H or M/T slicks? (Even some used ones for cheep would be nice)

oh ok, the Racelites only come in 1 type of Backspacing. which is the 5". its an ok rim, i've sold a couple sets, but I still would get the Bogart Drag On Fly star instead.

The Bogarts would be my top choice, but I have a very limited budget for drag wheels & tires and Bogarts would chew through that pretty quickly. The Weld are light, decent looking and inexpensive compared to Bogarts.
Edit: Looking at the pricing on your website, it looks like the lesser expensive Bogarts are roughly the same price. Then again, I can get the Weld localy through my "connection" for under $400 for the set. Thats hard to beat...

I rolled on my Weld Magnum Import drags to the track on Sunday and back to my shop. The Weld wheels are very f'ing strong. It was opening day and I knew it would be packed as **** and didn't want to waste time swapping wheels.
Why the **** weren't you racing Clubsiracer?

I only had $11 and $10 of that went to getting me into the track... (Since its $20 to race this year.) Also, it was insanely crouded so paying $20 for one MABEE two runs would be a waste. Add in the fact I didnt have any slicks and that pretty much sums it up.
I didnt see your car... What did you bring?

I got there a little late so by the time I came it was a packed house. I havent seen your CRX since you got it... PM me a picture of it.
BTW, I picked up a set of the Draglites today localy. They fit over the calipers with just a smidge of room to spare, but it just barely rubs the front of the caliper so I am going to need a thin wheel spacer to make it clear without rubbing.

who'd you get them from?
All these ****'s took pics at the track and I haven't found anyone that got a pic of it.
Here it is in street trim though.

The downside of 13" drag wheels is that you can only go so tall on them.

Hey Jason, I don't know what a 22" slick weighs, but i may have some used ones at the shop. If you want, give me a call at the shop and i'll see what i've got.

I have M&H 22x8x13 on the Magnum Import Drags. If you paid attention at the track, you would have seen them. I have the rear skinnies too. Let me know if you want to weigh them, but it sounds like you will know soon enough already.
Yea, i'll find out pretty soon. When I can slave up the money for the rear skinnies I might go for the matching set here too, but I just cant justify skinnies on the rear just to save a tad of weight. Then again, my stock wheels & tires are roughly 30lbs at each corner. Skinnies would cut that in half at least which would save a pretty hefty chunk of rotating weight. And we all know rotating weight makes a larger difference than static weight.
As for not seeing your car, I was too focused on "other" things...
