5th gear cuff

Which brand do you prefer? I was looking at the cnc cuff from ipg. Just wanted to ask first and make sure I get one that is straight forward.

Liberty Cuff works good for me.

Re: 5th gear cuff

They are all about the same designed from the same fixed center distance. And most bearings supplied are similar, too.

One thing to watch out for is to install the cuff with JUST the mainshaft and close the case. Make sure the cuff does not contact the case by the countershaft on the inside. If it does, start making some clearance for it. :P

I have an MFactory in my trans. No clearence issues install is pretty straight forward on all of them though. Transmission seems to go back together easier with the cuff installed vs not which is a plus.

Just looked back at some photos. The CNC was the one I had to clearance for. Just a heads up!

I guess every case is a little different. I'll be sure to double check. If you don't mind, post the pics up of where you clearanced it.

Re: 5th gear cuff

I don't actually have photos of the clearancing. Just the assembled gear set with the cuff on it.

It was clearanced up around where the c-clip for the countershaft is. Cases can differ by up to .020". I would put some putty on the edges of the cuff once you have the mainshaft shimmed to the thrust clearance you want, then seal the case and see where the tightest spot on the putty is to see how bad it is. Personally, the cuff should have had a chamfer to it at the edges for as thick as it was.
