42R users Pic request!
For those running the Gt42r that are water cooled, could post some pictures showing what your setups are for water feed and return..I've seen several ways done but wanted to know whats the best way you guys have found to be efficant..
i cap mine off on my car...but thats just because i had some goofy sized plugs sitting around for years that didnt fit anything. i got bored one day and tried them on the coolant passages of my 40r and they fit.

ive never had a problem not running water lines. it seems running the water lines just makes a mess every time you have to work on the turbo crap and clutters the engine bay with more crap.
plus whens the last time a turbo was covered under warranty anyways haha

Who the hell drives a 42R equipped Honda on the street, lol.

I'll be driving a 42r equipped Subaru on the street before long...
So Joe, you haven't seen any adverse affects of not running coolant through the bearing assembly when street drivin??
And I know turbos never get warrantied regardless...haha

ive done tons of 35r and 40r street cars with no problems not running coolant lines. i have also ran the coolant lines and not seen any advantages.
no 42r cars on the "street" since unless its a rwd V8 its pretty much pointless haha

Thanks for the input, i didnt wanna go and buy this turbo and everything to do the setup without hearing from the people that have done so before..I have talked to several people that have had no issues, but i do still see several that run them..I wont daily drive mine on the street but i still like to take it out for a cruise here and there..

I've yet to drive mine on the street, but I hope it's not pointless..haha
2.4L and AWD, hopefully will help...lol
I'm sure the jump from a 35r with a .63a/r to a 42r with a 1.15a/r will spool a bit different on the street

When's the last time you ran your own turbo anyways???
I don't run water lines either on my GT series turbos, although I did get lectured by one of the Garrett engineers. He just said, "drag racers" and shook his head. LOL He finally admitted that I'd probably be fine for a drag car though.

if you want to run them...it's prolly easiest to tap 2 -6an fittings on the water pipe and run them to the turbo...that's what i'm gonna do...better safe than sorry and it's not much extra work...plus i still terrorize the neighborhood now and then...it's funny to see the look on the neighbor's faces...

If you tap 2 fittings on the water pipe it kind of defeats the point of the cooling effect. best thing to do is feed it at some point before the motor on the lower hose and return it after the motor on the upper hose some where. Like that the hot coolant gets circulated through the radiator and cooled off.
I have a friend that tapped on for feed at the water neck to the head and returns it to the water pipe..His setup seems to be working fine and no overheating problems either..If as many people as there is arent running them and aren't having issues i'll prolly just do the same..
Aren't they water cooled to insure dimensional stability? It seems like with the type of tolerances they are running in a turbo that it would be beneficial to maintain a limited range of temperatures.
I’ve also heard rumor that the ball bearing retainers are a high temperature plastic and running the turbo at high temperatures can basically melt the retainers. I have no idea how true that is though.
If it works or not I guess is a different question then what is advisable.

Waterpipe has a tap and the neck on the head going to rad has a tap! 35r and worked perfect now I saved it for my new setup 42r...
The way i figure it.... most of the big time ppl have sponsors that can prolly help them out if there turbo goes bad, but me Im hopen to warrenty my turbo for damn sure
2200 for a 42r is not cheap
