Mitsubishi Eclipse: Detailed
Its been a while since I posted anything. This one seemed special enough for me to bring out my camera. There happened to be a pro on site and she was nice enough to lend her talents. My lil' digicam isn't much but she got some really good pics at the end with it.
His Eclipse has been in storage over the last couple years. He wanted me to bring back out that shine before he leaves again. Dirt dobber nests and container fall-out had gotten past the cover. She was kind of messy but still in good shape underneath.

Minor swirls and haziness

After a good bath and claying, I got started buffing the dull spots and sanding marks with 3M Rubbing compound and a 3M white wool pad.
A look at the fender before:

After one good pass (I went back over it several times to maximize it, this is an example)

After the compounding, I went over the whole car with a good polish from Optimum and Lake Country's white foam pad. I finished out the polishing with Lake Country's black foam pad and 3M's Ultrafine Machine polish.
Finished polishing the driver's side:

After a round of waxing with my Makita orbital and a finger foam pad:

This is where the pro went to work. Enjoy!

The best trunk shots we could get

Finally got just the right lighting...

Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks for checking it out. If I hadn't gotten the camera out of a gumball machine the pics would be a lot more enjoyable. I just bought a truck and I'm about to throw a few grand at it in order to equip it with everything I need to haul my equiptment. After that, I may try to pick up a Rebel or something...
