Wiring a dash mount LED?
HEy can someone tell me how to wire a dash led scanner... i have it installed but i want to set it up so that it turns on when the ignition is off and when i start the car it turns off... can someone help me with this please ? thank you diagrams will help as well
Buy a 5 pin relay
Hook pin 30 to a constant power +
Hook pin 85 th an earth -
Hook pin 86 to a 12 volt power supply that is on when you have the ignition on.
Hook pin 87A to your led
This is presuming you led can take 12 volts, it may be something like 5V in which case 12V would blow it

If i can remember correctly, i believe all the led scanners have built in resistors... so the 12v's is fine

what resistors would be needed to ensure that a 5v led will not blow from a 12v source?
