will 2 ways work with component x over?
I have a set of polk momo component speakers in the civic, but they are blown.
So I was wondering if I were to just swap out the door speakers with some 2 way kenwoods would this work ok?
Wire them the same way I would the old component speakers (from amp to crossover to speaker) or should I splice them before the xover to benefit from the built in tweeters?
I just dont want to spend much being I will also be upgrading the rear channels.
thanks.

No, you will make your speakers sound like pooooooo. Those crossovers were desinged to work with your blown speakers. Not some other brand. Just do away with the old x-overs and connect the new speakers like they show in there instructions.
Im going to have it amped so whether or not splicing it effects how many ohms are going to the speaker I should be ok, or at least I thought it would work ok.
and whats the deal with crutchfield saying hardly any 6x9 will fit in the rear deck?

Its not going to sound good. You can go ahead and try. Not all 6x9 are the same size. Some brands have bigger magnets then others. To big of a magnet and you will hit the trunk rails and the trunk will not close.
ahhh thanks buddy, well I guess some of the problem is the rear deck cover height.
as for running 2 ways in place of a component speaker Im not sure what would cause it to sound bad?

There are good sounding 2 ways speakers out there. Just dont use a x-over from a different set of speakers on them.

just got one set installed and was going to tune the amp before installng the otherside to see how it sounded.
well it sounded like **** for about 15 seconds then just all together stopped.
I had talked with a few people from crutchfield about this setup and they pretty much said as long as its amped it shouldnt present a problem splicing before a crossover with a coaxial speaker.
any ideas, again thanks in advance.

unfortunately my goal with buying these 2 ways was to keep the tweeters.
I will give it a try, is there anyway of running this setup while keeping the tweeters?

ive eliminated the tweeters all together and now neither side get a good signal and the amp is just producing heat and sucking amps (as my lights and dash are dimming)
one side sounds super distorted the other doesnt even respond.

its a Rockford fosgate and from what I can see it doesnt have any fuses other than the main power fuse.
I didnt see a protect light on, if it is how would I reset it?

Your speakers are possibly blown. Smell them to see if they are burnt. Push the cone in carefully. If it is grinding it is screwed.
Distortion is caused when you overdrive an amp and put a clipped signal into your speakers, clipped signals tend to **** speakers up if driven for too long and too hard...

I cant imagine they are blown, I never even used them. Bought them brand new from amazon.com, I threw them in today, tested them out for about a minute total.
Those speakers have an rms rating of 50watts into 2ohms. Your amp put 250watts rms into them at the minimum... The max power rating for the speaker is 150watts.
You really should have done your research before...

well the "true ohm" infinitys are rated the same as a 4 ohm speaker. after the wiring size change and heat buildup they rate them at 4 (when really they are ~2.6ohm).
And Like I had said the volume was at zero and from there I slowly built it up, there was no way I just pumped all the amp had at once into the speakers.

tried another amp and with this amp Kicker x260? something like that weaker 4 ch, all the infinitys do is click and pop.
but, When I hook up a different speaker directly to the amp it works fine.

yea hooked them up to a 4ch amp and I got a loud high pitch frequency out of them, without the volume turned up at all.
when I had one hooked up on the Left and the Right side a 4 ohm speaker both would pop and click. and that was a known good speaker.
wish I woulda purchased local, Now I gotta figure out what to do with them.
neither smell burnt or crunch as I depress the cones.
I may just try a 4 ohm speaker set for the front, although Ive always had goodluck with infinity.
