Where to get replacement face plates...?
Anyone know where I can find replacement face plates?? I know I could contact the manufacturer but they'd charge as much for the plate as for an entire h/u. (Pioneer 4000 and an 8000).

Try ebay.... I bought an entire pioneer deck to replace the face plate I needed. It was much cheaper then getting just the plate from pioneer
HOLY ****! What a rip off.....
Part Number: CXB3980
Description: DETACHABLE FACE ASSY
Price: $279.81
EGAD!!!
I think I'll just keep using the remote (the - volume is missing) until I find one on ebay. I could get a really good "lower end" DEH64000 brand new head unit for that much money.

It was done that way to prohibit the crooks from ripping off your radio
and just buying the face for a few bucks...prob is that some immoral
shops would just sell you a face plate no questions asked ( I have witnessed
this 1st hand)...Not to mention buying and selling gear of questionable origin.
And to top it off..crooks would steal the faces of showroom floors if they
could.
Basically...depending on the deck...its better to purchase a new one

Should have known that that was the reason behind it....

Too bad I can't get away with that. I bought the h/u fair and square from a friend and he bought it from a big name store back when the DEH-P_000 were the newest line. The "_" I am using in reference to all the 3000, 4000, 6000, 7000 and 8000 series models. I don't know what year that was.

Well, from what I remember my friend telling me that he spent almost 5-600 new, but for $280 I could get a decent one brand new...possibly with MP3 playback...(but MP3 playback doesn't concern me much in terms of car stereos, maybe for the handheld CD walkmen..)
