Default viper 5901??

i'm looking to get another layer of security for my 00`SI, and viper 5901 looks really interseting. I'm digging the 2-way pager and LCD screen that shows you which door opened and all that. i don't really care about the remote start, defogger, blah blah, just the security aspect. do you guys know anything about it and the reliability of the system or is there another system that's a better bang for the buck? it's hard to find reviews online.

I dont know about this one. Its pretty new so there might be issues. I had the 5701 and it sucked compared to the old responder. I would give it awhile and see how it does. It has a great looking remote.

what was wrong with your 5701? i've only heard great things about the 5901 and never had any problems with DEI products.

The pager was to quiet, didnt report warn away and stopped working while i was trying to adjust the impact sensor. The remotes looked awsome though. Also they took away instant trigger only progressive trigger now.

I have it. (50.7x by Clifford) It's a nice unit thus far. Range was okay even in an airport (died within about 5 minutes of walking, but acceptable enough). Backlight is programmable, mine is now on red.

The response time is adequate for alarm going off, takes maybe 5 seconds for you to be notified. I have mine set on vibrate & tone so I'm sure to know something's going on. Lots of wires, it will be overwhelming when the box is first opened, but I'm almost done with my install. Best of all, it does not require a 689m with manual transmission cars, it's smart on its own. :-) I'd recommend the AU94T proximity sensor just to be sure nothing happens, of course.

"it does not require a 689m with manual transmission cars"

This is one of the reasons i wanted the 5701 but i didnt like the fact that it didnt page warn away. I actually downgraded from the 791, the upgrade would be the 5901 i believe.

Well i got rid of the 5701 and went back to my 791.

Hey Davus hows the AU94T compared to the 508D?

I've honestly never used the 508D in real life, I just heard from this board (from DEI fanatics none the less) that it's not too great. I figure it'd work just fine though. The AU94T when used on a DEI alarm is kinda hilarious though, the way slight increments of the **** affect area covered. Maybe someone with 508D experience can chime in with some more valuable information.

The 508 has 2 adjustment ***** so i think its a little easier to adjust. But i havent really used any other proximity sensor though.

I'm under the impression that one is for the exterior "warn away" and the other is for "full blast" though, right?

359 shipped from hookedontronics but you'll be takin a risk cuz regardless of the alarm being defective you have to pay for shipping back and a restocking fee. Plus you wont be able to talk to no one by phone just strictly email which sux.
