well i bought a 91 rex si and i went and put a cd player in and all it does is skip when the bass hits??? i was jsut wondering if there is a mount kit or something i can do so the cd player doesnt skip? its a new cd player so i know its not the cd player
theres not a mount kit, all CD players are 1DIN which is the same size as the factory radio and most other civic players. You may need to foam it as stated or try cleaning the lense or your cd player is old and the cd eye may be on its last leg. I had a old Sony POS and it skipped when I would look at it.
its a metal bracket with holes in it?? Yeah all cd players come with those. It has a bolt in the bag for that bracket and it screws in the rear of the cd player. Its nothing special from crutchfield sorry

well i need something, the cd player is brand new, well i used it for a cpl months in my 93 si hatch and had absolutely no problems, is there anywhere i can get those metal strips im pretty sure i tossed mine along time ago
no it's not the metal strip with the holes in it. It was in a kit that crutchfield sent. Has 2 plastic pieces, 1 square "c-shaped" piece that holes the deck, and a flat piece that holds the other piece on the back bracket in the console

well i got the kit and installed it, really easy to install, while i was doing that i put a couple of foam pieces in there also, and it works 100 times better, still skips around 150 db's but i guess i cant really expect much better, thanks for all the help

he would have to have a hell of a lot to be hitting 150 db's,we had a van built for compitition,it was hitting 154 with 6 stoker 18's and 1000 watts going to each.a mustang we did had 4 15's in it,it hit 146.witht he van we could not even think about using a cd player in the cabin,at 154 it would not play for 2 seconds,no matter how it was mounted,we had to use remove the headunit to the outside when we competed.
Yeah....150 db's are very possible. With the advent of the internet, info flows a lot
more freely..No longer is spl such a dark magic with clerics
and
closely guarded secrets. Anyone can build a ported box with a pair of speakers
and 1 or 2 amps and hit it or very close to it.

why the lol? 150db isn't that impressive anymore. there's a rex here in bellingham, with three fosgate 10" hx2's that hits around 155db. he's running about 900 rms a piece...
you have to consider airspace... a van's got a hell of a lot more air than a civic hatch does, duh. less airspace=more compression=higher spl
how can you be building a spl van and not understand simple concepts? maybe that's why the van's not hitting....

wow all of this over me? lol well with 2 square 15's in my rex i hit a low 150, and thats with 800 rms to each, whats the big deal its a lil *** rex with a loud system ( rarely turn up the system that loud becuase if i did i would be deaf really quick)
so the mount kit works and im sure as long as its not over 140 it wouldnt skip with a good cd player
