caz</TD></TR></TABLE>Without a lot more info, that will be hard to say, do you just want tunes? Do you want to enter sound offs or SPL, [dB drags] contests? what kind of music do you listen to? How much money do you want to spend? do you want to have it ALL right away, or can you wait and add more to the system as you can afford it? Need to know most of this, to be able to say what will work, [best system for a hatch] or you can go to your local car audio shop and drop $5,000 to $10,000 and get a real good one 94

get what you can afford start with an aftermarket head unit then some front rear speakers if you want get a amp to run them,if you want subs get some get what yo u can afford you can always sell then upgrade
i went with infinity in front and back then all jl amps + 2 12w6v2, 2 500/1 and 1 450/4 to power everything it hits so damn hard + it sounds so clear but i dropped allot of money in that so left me little money for my swap but i got enuff now + it all depend what yo want to do see how much money you have to play with then go from there

Ok.......The source, [HU] will be the most important component of your system, [control and SQ depends on it] so spend some time and think about what you want out of your HU, [head unit], what kind of control over the sound you want at the HU, there is a wide range, from a basic single disk CD player with control of vol., bass., treb., and fade, with an internal amp with about 4x 8watts rms per ch. no pre. amp outouts. they will run you under $100 for crap to about $200 for a good dependable brand name unit, at the other end,you can spend $2500 on a good dependable brand name DVD/CD flip out screen with all the options, for between $500 and $1000 you can get brand name CD HUs with full control and outputs. I would recommend One of the Alpines, http://www.alpine.com in that price range you can get an Alpine that is high power, [4x 18watts rms per ch.]
with 3 pre amp outputs front, rear and sub, will play most disc formats CD, MP3/WMA/CD-R/RW, digital time correction, H/P L/P, digital x-over, 5band parametric EQ, 2way/3way digital x-over, sub. level and phase control and much more, all built into a 1pc din HU. The Alpine CDA9835 about $600 retail is the one I would recommend, you would never have to replace it, [unless you want to go to DVD and screen]no matter what kind of upgrades you want to add to the system later, the next thing I would look at is speakers, and there are lots to pick from, and what you pick for speakes will depend on what kind of SQ you want, how loud you want it , and how much time and effort, [money] you want to spend installing them. I recommend Eclipse, http://www.eclipse-web.com they have point source speakers that will fit in the stock locations with little or no mods. they also make 2way componants, and integrated, [coax and triax] entry level speakers that fit.
Next would be amp/amps and then sub/subs, and again there many to pick from, I like JLAudio for both, with all that said.............
I am an installer, and have been for over 30 years, I have an older Alpine CDA-7893 with 4 eclipse 2way coax in stock locations, [the rears tweets have been cut] but with custom installation, MDF panels front and MDF and fiberglass cabinets rear in my 94 teg, I do not have amps or subs, [I autocross the car]
The SQ is very good, [Alpine and custom installed Eclipse speakers] evan bass responce, [rear speakers mounted into cabinets] lots of people think I have subs in the rear locations and an amp hidden someplace, [no..... just 6.5" Eclipse coax with the tweet cut out, installed into custom cabinets, and it is more then loud enough for me.
the main advantage I have is I picked a HU that lets me upgrade the systom to what ever I want to do, my next step, [soon] will be to replace the coax with point source and add a 4x 25watt amp and maybe a 300watt monoblock and a 10" sub, http://www.ljaudio.com I can no longer autocross, [had a stroke and can't be competitive anymore] [yet].
The point I am trying to make is you can get a good sounding system, that will allow you to build on, as long as you spend a little time on researching and taking some time and laying out what you want, then getting the right componants as you need them, and without any of them having to be replaced as you upgrade.
Now all of this still applies, [except upgrading] if you can afford to get everything you want all at once, but the order of importance of the componants will be the same, and you will have to go to your local car audio shops and look and listen to see what you like, I like Alpine. Eclipse and JL, you may hate it, feel free to IM me if you have more questions. 94
