Default Suggestion for new Deck

I'm looking to replace the Sony ES deck in my truck. I'm looking to get either an Eclipse or Alpine deck, I don't want to spend more than $300.00

I would like to get th CDA-9835 for $300 if anyone knows where to find one for this price.

Or the Eclipse CD5444

Suggestions?

Durabrands rock! For about the first week or so, they're pretty tight... I can't tell you how many Durabrand decks I saw come in for replacement a month after Christmas... LOL

But back on topic, Best Buy just started carrying Alpine, and they've got 4 decks right now in stock that fit your budget...

I'm not looking for crap. If you got nothing useful to say please don't say anything at all.

If you know where to get an Alpine CDA 9835 for a discount please let me know. The cheapest I have found it for so far is $400.00

kinda looking for something a lot newer and that will play MP3's. Thanks though I think I may end up with the 9833 if i can't find the 9835 any cheaper. Sucks not knowing anyone in the business anymore

I used to get a 75% discount

Also looking for the Eclipse CD5444 if you know where to get any of these for $300 or less please let me know. Found the 9833 already for $300

Knowing a little something of your experience level...

It's safe to assume you know of the Pioneer 860mp premier.

Well, there are some ebay deals on those sometimes. You can get them for under $350 shipped certainly. My friend got his for 331 shipped somehow, and that was many months ago. Perhaps check for ebay deals on the Alpines as well, but I think the 9835 is at least as much as the 860mp.

AND:

I'll be selling a Mint, NIB Eclipse cd8053 soon (and perhaps a used one a short while after that). I'm thinking about ditching it for the DRZ-9255. I'm going to miss Balanced Outputs... ---> I wonder how much I can get for that?

Edit: Maybe pick up a used Alpine/Eclipse/Pioneer from ECA or Carsound eh? There's a used 860mp on ECA which will probably go for less than 300 shipped (best offer is 275 right now).

Never really cared for Pioneer products.

I think I am leaning more towards the Alpine. Went and looked at both the other day. My Complaint about Eclipse decks the ***** are to small and to stiff. The other complaint I had was the silk screen they are using. Most companies are now printing these on the inside of the buttons so the labels don't wear off. Kind of irritating buying a stereo and have all the labels wear off.

The Alpine volume **** was easy to get to an required little effort to turn.

If you can wait about a month or so Eclipse will have it's new units out. That means you can either get one of the 05' units or you can get a deal on an 04' unit.

Do you have any experience with Eclipse head units? I'm going to assume that you do, as you've been into this for a while.

They are quality pieces, but their ergonomics suck! Some of the most confusing/worthless menus that I've ever seen, and the *** remote sucks.

I have a 8454, and I'm looking to go back to Alpine once the price of the 9835 drops a bit.

(I never should have sold my 7998 )

Never actually owned an Eclipse one of the few products I haven't owned. But I know they are quality proucts, friends have had a few. But after looking at the build of the new stuff in person I didn't care for it. I haven't bought a stereo in 6-7 years LOL the ones I had worked fine.

The ES CDX-910 I have now is dying it resets every once in a while I paid $250 for it new way back when. This is when Sony gave 75% off to dealer employee's who bought the ES line. If I get around to fixing I might save it, just looking for something newer for my truck that will play MP3's. And I don't know anyone in the audio business anymore they have all moved on to greener pastures, so this kinda sucks.

I have an ADS amp Altec carbon fiber mids (LOL old but still sound good) and some 8W6's so I don't need anything to fancy in my truck. I don't think they even make the 8W6 anymore.

well heres the deal. I work at circuitcity as an installer. We carried alpine till bestbuy took them we are now getting eclipse and kicker. Its all really on how u want your system set up. if u want striaght up cdplayer without adding alot id say alpine is the way to go they have great cd quality. If you were looking for something like u wanted to add direct connect xm radio and a couple subs id say prolly pioneer or a higher end alpine with the nice eq settings. I have the pioneer 8600mp and i love it. it really all up to how you want ur system but hands down alpine wont let u down in anyway

Here's what I got!

http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp...age=2

The KD-SHX700. This baby is so nuts. It's a motorized, 256 color deck that does absolutely everything. If you name something, it has it. Definately check it out - I bought mine at Best Buy for $250 brand new. It was supposed to have a long warranty too but I installed the system myself, so I didn't get it.

Are you serious about Circuit City carrying eclipse? *shakes head*.....

Also the 05' Eclipse Units will finally be Sirius Ready.

I've heard from the local dealer that NONE of the earlier headunits will be compatiable with the Sirius tuners. If so, I'm going to be pissed. My 8454 may soon be for sale.

Edit:

9833 = Solid HU at a nice price. Say, did you every find a 9835 for less than or even close to $300?

Not even close I know with some more searching one could probably be found for around this I just didn't want to wait. The extra features really mean nothing to me. So the 9833 will do fine for me.
