Default Subwoofer/voicecoil

is it necessary to use all the voice coils of a sub?
or is it ok to just use one...would it do any harm?
make a significant change in sound?

my sub is a quad 2ohm voicecoil

also..is it possible to hook up all the positive terminals together, tape it together n put it in the positive amp terminal..n then the same for the negative

This is a big debate over here. You can run one set. But some companys void warrentys if one set is hooked up. I prefer to do what the company says on there subs because they are the ones who made it. One of my custemer is running like this because he blew one of his vc. It was a dual 4 ohm. He is now running it as a 4 ohm sub for the past 4 months with no problem and it still hits. not as hard because it not pulling that much power from the amp. but is decient.

first you need to know were your amp is stable at. You dont want to run the amp at a low ohm rating if it cant take it. What amp are you using and what sub? Hit me with that info and we can help you better

okay let get you taken care of. First the amp you have will only put out 1600 watts rms. I know it says this but I just talked to one of there tech. The numbers you got were from a ideal enviroment. at 16 volts. a cool room. perfect signal. But thats good because your sub rms is 1500 watts. Your sub is a dual four ohm vc so you are going to wire it up parellel, Pos to pos and neg to neg. This will give you a two ohm load to your amp. Since your amp is one channel. They made it with a two channel speaker output which is just two mono output. don't bridge it just connect it to one side and your amp will be running mono at a 2 ohm load.
