Sub problem
So I bought my car about a year ago, and the guy had a 12" sub and amp (obviously) running off of the stock head unit at speaker level (without rca cables). So when i installed my new alpine 9805 head unit, i didn't have rca's and couldn't hook the amp/sub up.
Well yesterday i finally got around to it and ran them to the back. Everything worked fine, except I couldnt control the sub level from the head unit (it had the option to control the sub, but when i moved it up and down, it didn't change how hard the sub hits). I just let that go and said i can live with it. Well today it just magically stopped working. I checked it out, and the amp is still getting power. The wiring all looks to be fine and whatnot. There is sound coming out of the sub when i turn the settings on the amp all the way up...but the sound is very dim and groggley. My question is...what probably happened? Oh yeah...when i touched the amp it was burning hot...literally...i didn't expect it to be that hot when i rested my arm on it for a second...now i have a huge burn mark on my arm. Did I blow the amp?
