stereo removal
hello
i am trying to remove my stock stereo/cd player from my 01 itr. i know there are two 8mm screws holding it in from behind the dash. i cannot get those screws to move. is there a special tool to take the damn thing out or do i need to remove the whole dash. if this is the case is there a web site that can assist this adventure.

center console only takes about.... 5-10 minutes tops. remove the screws near the back of the center console by the rear ash tray. then go all the way up the console and there should be 1 more on each side. next two screws are under the e-brake handle.. pop open the cover and thats it. pull the rear part of the console then lift.

Get a flexi-drive from snap on or a local sears and put a 8mm socket on the end and go from behind the dash to remove the radio only takes about 30 seconds to do it, or use a scew-driver with a few extensions either way takes just a minute. then it just pulls out. Good luck.

use 8mm...all you need it to remove the ash try...it has two bolts....pull that out.....then use some universal angles then you can reach the two 8mm bolts...takes like 1 min or less....

It's like a long screwdriver that has a socket attachment on the end but it is flexible, twistable, they are usually about 18" long. looks kind of like a big spring with a handle and bit attachment.
