Speaker Install in 2000 EX
Well audio has never been my fortay, but I decided to upgrade the sound system in my 2000 Civic EX. I got the rear 6x9's all fine, but when I wen to do the front I ran into a problem. The new speakers are simply too deep. The speakers are Alpine Type S 6 1/2's but they are just too deep for the whole, I can't get them in and I would like to avoid cutting things out if possible. If someone could guide me in the direction of the solution it would be greatly appreciated I tried searching as was unsuccesful.

I'm an idiot, the post I was looking for was right down 10 below mine. Now that I know that I need spacers, my second question concerns the actual mounting of the speakers. The stock ones use 3 screws to secure them down, whereas the aftermarkets use 4. Any suggestions? Do I just screw some new holes into the door panel?

U make the mdf ring
U screw the ring with countersunk holes into the door panel, using NEW holes, not the OEM ones
Then you simply screw the speaker to the ring with wood screws

I have a 98 EX and I'm putting some Infinity's in the front. They were too deep also and I just used a dremel and cut out the plastic and used the adaptor rings that came with the speakers to adapt the 3 screw to 4 screw. Slapped the factory grill cover on and everything fits good. Just need to put them back in the door now and wire them up.

Turns out I had to make the actual hole in the door panel larger too. So you may be in for some metal work. Another 15 minutes with the dremel probably.
doubt metal work, not on a 2000... big hole back there, he is just hitting the water guard,
For the post dude... Im probably going to remove them for my speakers as well, ive the same car... that plastic is a rain guard, you can cut that back out completely, but id make sure you put something like a plastic bag type thing on the back, a few small peices of plastic to keep it away from the magnet if it helps sound quality, and some crazy glue, and your set to get a larger flexible rain cover for the magnets of your speakers.
