Reprogramming the locking on Viper 5900
Hey.
So I bought a 93 Si hatch and the previous owner removed the stock power door lock mechanisms. I purchased DEI 524N door lock actuators and installed them. I know Honda has a standard feature that you cannot lock the drivers door unless the door is closed. I don't want this to conflict with the alarm automatically locking the doors when the car is started. Sometimes I start my car with the door open is all. I don't want the actuator to rip on the door lock and snap my inside door lock [it did it to my cousin's coupe].
Is there anyway around that? Can I reprogram the alarm to NOT lock the doors when the car is started?

yeah you should be able to reprogram it to not lock on remote start. i dont have a manual infront of me its should be in the programming options. check vipers site if you dont have it. i know you can do it on compustar and im like 90% sure u can do it on viper its just not a common feature ppl ask to have shut off so i dont remember what option
You shouldn't need to go to a dealer.
Ignition lock is a feature programmable using the remote/valet switch.
1. Open a door.
2. Turn the ignition on, then back off.
3. Select a Menu. Press and HOLD the Valet/Program switch. After three seconds the siren will chirp once indicating entry to the Basic Features Menu. Release the button.
4. To access the third feature (ignition lock), press and release 3 times. Then press the button once more and HOLD it. The siren will chirp the number of times equal to the feature you have accessed.
5. Program the Feature. While holding the Valet/Program switch, you can toggle the feature
on and off using the remote transmitter. Pressing the button that arms the system will
select the one chirp or default setting. Pressing the button that disarms the system (or the
Channel Two button when in the single button arm/disarm configuration) will select the
two chirp setting.
6. Release the valet switch.

ok im reading the manual and for programming a new remote it says if the programming was previously done with a bit writer than programming may be locked....it was done with a bitwriter so will i be locked out if i try and do it myself?
edit: wait nm i read the manual and it says the alarm comes factory programmed to the receiver so the bitwriter was only used for programming the features
