Default Remote starter and Alarm

Before I start any mods on my car I would like to install a Remote starter and Sercurity system. My car is a Manual though...I have seen car starters just for manuals though. Has anyone done this? Any recommendations for one that was easy to install? Any ones to aviod? Thanks for your advice!

If you do not want to override the clutch you are going to have a hard time installing a remote start.

just over-ride the clutch switch and don't be a moron. that's the only way to do remote start on a manual.

if you override the clutch, you loose cruise controll.. well atleast i did
the car thinks the clutch is always in, and cruise controll does not work while
the clutch is in!

aite, i install starters for a living...
now with 5 speeds there are only a few starters that will work with a 5 speed with
safty features.. Ulra 1250, 3500, and the 5500... all the starts come with Alarm.
when the starter is installed, all we need to do is bypass the clutch during starting
period with the starter alone.. there is no reason you would lose your cruise control.... Doesnt affect anything of the sort...

depending on the vehicle we would also have to use a bypass mod, and a few relays....
tWONT affect anything with cruise. Unless you are installing a wack *** starter..

There's several wires going to the clutch switch (I think just 2, at least on mine). You just have to ground the correct one. I did this awile ago, and I believe it was a black wire and a pink wire. I "think" it was the pink wire (can't remember for sure though) that disabled the starter lock thing when you cut it and attached it to a permanent ground. My remote starter worked like a charm, and the cruise control still worked fine too. I eventually took that out though after my car got broken into and installed my alarm (I got the one with the LCD pager thingy...it's cool!), so I just left the remote start disabled and taped everything back up.

I Assume the Ultra Start 2250M would work also right? How hard is it to install these? Are they a good brand?

The ultra is a pretty good starter, we have had problems getting the rang that Ultra claims out of em... but other then that, if you know what you are doing with the install they are easy..

You might need a few relays, and diodes, or a bypass depending on the vehicle.
I install those starters everyday, if you have any questions if you attempt to tackle this, just post them up here.

Aite you bypassed the clutch, correct?

aite, to learn the tach...

what wire did you go to in the engine bay?

did you go to a injector or a wire from the distributor?

Ok man! hold up....

Start from scatch here...

what you should do is.. TO LEARN TACH.

now listen to me... When you start the vehicle the LED should be on... use your key and start your car.. let it run for 30 seconds or so,, after that time the LED should go out and the horn if hooked up will honk and the parking lights will flash..
your tach will be learned...

Turn you car off and you should be ready to roll..

go and try it..

Alright when I start the vechicle the Led's do not come on.
A few other questions I have are
dose it matter if the door is open when I start the car?
I have conflicting paper work (Omega and the12volt.com) which wire is second ignition and which is Accessory on the igintion harness?
When I turn the key on my parking lights do not come on like the book says it should. but the lights are hooked up right because when I lock or unlock the car my parking lights flash.

I used the tach wire that they said to use....it is by the passenger strut tower all alone and blue.....I tired the blue wire comign out on the back of the distributor but it had the same results.

Here is some more info for you.....
Tach learning steps-
1)make sure all connections are pluged into the unit ----- I have everything pluged in! the parking lights flashed and the siren cherped.
2)Turn the ignition Key On (parking Lights will turn on)------Nope no parking liights
3)Start the vechicle with the Key and led's will flash-------Nope no flashing

Which means the tach signal is not detected right? I have moved the wire arround a couple time but no change.
I also checked to make sure that the first ignition wire has constant 12 volt in the start postion and it dose.

When I press the remote start the parking lights flash 4 times if that means anything.

OK Finally got the reservation mode to work! I put it in neutrual, parking brake and tap the brake. lights flash, turn the key and take my key out, get out of the car shut the door and it shuts off. when i click start it tries to start but gives me flashes that indiacate </U> /U]tach lock-out . ...how can I fix that????

ok, i just installed crimestopper 2006fm remote start and alarm pager. I do'nt see how an alarm is made for manuals. Mine had no special hookups for auto, i had to disable the clutch thing. there are 2 plugs by the top of the clutch pedal. a white one that has a black and pink wire, and a yellow plug with some other colors. unhook the yellow plug and i just cut a paperclip and bent it in a u shape and shoved it in that plug and then taped it all up with electrical tape, works fine and i sitll have cruise. the white plug is the cruise plug. this is on a 4th gen. I'm going to rig up a negative ground switch (like a hood pin switch) to my e-brake so i have to have the ebrake pulled up to do remote start, that reduces the chances of me leaving it in gear nad starting it.
about your lights, that shouldn't have to do with your tach, lights are a red/black and silver dots on the plug on the right of the steering column for the 4th gen.
about the ignition stuff..that confused me too so i did a wire test on it all, i really don't think it matters which one you put ignition 1 or 2 on. my alarm has ignition 1 and 2 then an accessory wire...so i was like "huh". I just made sure that i hooked up the power and the starter wire, the rest doesn't really matter, the remote start will give them all 12volts when the car is going to start so it doesn't matter which one is on which, as long as all 3 have a 12volt source going to it for startup. i think i hooked up ignition 2 to the yellow wire, if that helps. i'd have to go look to figure out the other ones.
send me an e-mail if you need more help

Alright, I have just about everything going now. I got the reservation mode to work. With the parking brake on and the carin neutral I can tap the brakes and activate the system. When I try to start...the car will try and then give me flashes that indiacate no tach signal. I have the tach wire tapped into the blue wire in the harness coming out of the distributor. Whats wrong any ideas?

One more thing when I had everything apart I started the car and my SRS light never stayed on once the car was running. THen when I put it all back together the lights is on...while the car is running. Any connections that I should go see it i moved when I put it back together. I also had the cover off the steering wheel coloumn. Don't ask....... would that have caused this? any help would be great!
