remote start problem...Viper 5900
my remote start starting to act alittle weird. So a few times now when i try to start it with the pad, the van (Odyssey 99) sound like its trying start. The starter is engaging and dis- engaging. It seems to only do it when its cold outside. I also notice once that all the cluster light were on (ABS, SSR, etc..) which has never happen before. Can anyone explain why this is happening, the system been in the van for a few years now with no problems and now this.
If the ground is good, you need to figure out what mode the remote start is in... Is it using virtual tach, voltage sense, or true tach? I recommend using true tach. If you are using virtual tach, you need to program cranking time through the programming options, and if it isn't programmed to crank long enough, especially in cold weather, you can run into these problems.
If true tach is the blue wire next to the firewall then true tach is what im using. I havent check the ground yet, maybe this weekend. But i do have a different question maybe i can get your help. How do i disable the auto lock when the car is started? mater of fact how do i disable the whole alarm feature? i just need the remote start and lock/unlock feature and thats ALL.
Joeymc13 what the status of the 5902?

True tach would be purple/white from the alarm, but that doesn't mean they didn't use a different color to extend the wire. Look under the hood, If there is a wire attached to either a fuel injector, or to a blue wire near your distributer, you may have true tach. If this is the case, Start the car, and hold the valet button until it comes on solid so your alarm can relearn the tach. I can tell you a way to keep your car from locking your doors with the ignition, but if you wanna completely disable your security part, its gonna take a little more than just some programming, if you still want to keep your remote start.
You would have to take out the starter kill relay, disconnect the siren, disable the shock sensor, and disconnect the door trigger wire, or any other instant trigger inputs. Im sure Im forgetting something, but we can figure it out if that is really the direction you wanna take.
As far as the 5902 is concerned, I think its gonna find its way into my lil bro's car for Christmas. Yeah, Im cheap. Im giving him a used alarm for Christmas, but the thing retails for $600-$800, so he can't be too mad at me. PM me if you may have any interest in a 5701 or 5901...
Just outta curiousity, why do you wanna disable security on the 5900? Its a good alarm...
