Remote Start and Keyless Entry
I have a 94 Honda Accord EX. And i wanted to kno if i bought i aftermarket remote start/keyless entry system (like Viper) would it be able to work with the factory alarm system?
Like would it just replace the factory alarm system? And plug into the same harness and everything? Or would you have to rewire the whole system?
the best thing to do would be buy a remote start/alarm/keyless combo like a viper 560xv or a viper 5900 etc. and just dont bother using the oem alarm anymore.
im not 100% sure, but if money is an issue/all you want is the car starter. im pretty sure that you keep the stock alarm and have remote start installed, your remote starter fob will work as if it were the stock fob.
so to answer your question in short yes. (to my knowlege)

Yea i was planning on buying that Viper sytem. The one that is remote start and keyless entry. But my question is will that replace the oem alarm system completely? And just plug right into the factory wiring for the oem alarm? Or would whoever installs it have to completely replace the whole system in the car? And run new wires and such?
Pretty much what im asking is would the Viper alarm be compatable with the factory alarm at all?

so basically your going to be getting a viper alarm/remote start.....in which case they just wire the new stuff into the car and thye dont have to remove the old stuff.

As mentioned it will not "plug" into the OEM alarm it will have to be hard wired into the car, the OEM alarm can be left in place, or unplugged and some of the wires can be used.
My first question would be do you have an OEM alarm or just key-less entry, I can find no info about an OEM alarm for a 94 Accord, first mention is in a 96 Accord
In fact all my resources indicate no anti-theft of any kind in the 94-95 Accord an alarm was available in the 96, [you could not interface it with aftermarket systems]
In the 97 model the OEM alarm could be interfaced with an aftermarket system, the 98-02 models also came with the transponder key immobilizer system.

Yea it does have an alarm in it. Cuz when you open the door with the key. And not the Keyless Entry thing. The alarm goes off, cuz i guess its assuming someone lock picked the door. And it goes off if you reach in the open window and unlock the door from the inside when the alarm is armed. And the little keyless entry thing i have has a Honda H on it. So im assuming it is factory. Or maybe factory aftermarket installed. I also kno that my car used to be a company car. Because on the front of the owners manual it says Company Car #6. So maybe that was something the company that owned the car did idk. But i was just wondering how hard it would be to put an aftermarket alarms/ remote start system in. And how hard it would be to disable the factory alarm and such.
I know there was a dealer installed "OEM" alarm for the 94 Acura Integra, made by Alpine, but have not seen one in a 94 Accord.
Anyway.... to disable it find the alarm brain and unplug it, a lot of the wiring, [door and trunk triggers, hood pin if installed] door locks and others will be at that plug.
If it is the dealer installed "oem" alarm, it is installed using a multi plug "T" harness, and alarm brain was mounted under drivers seat, [in the 94 teg] the whole "T" harness should be removed, fallow harness from alarm brain plug, if it does not go into main under dash harness, it will run to "sets' the "T" plugs, [a number of male and female plug sets] a stock plug is unplugged and the "T" harnesses plug is plugged into cars harness and the cars plug is plugged into the "T" harness, there are 4-6 of these "T" plug sets, there is also a starter cut relay on the alarms harness, it will be obvious to you if it is a "T" harness setup.
Hope this helps.
