take it back

for that price you want to buy a whistler unit.

just look at this test: http://guysoflidar.com/august-....html

For the price range you are looking at.. your limited to the Beltronics 995 and the top of the line whistler Pro78

I would go with the Pro78 because it has IO/POP detection...but also look up what kind of guns that they use in the areas you normally drive.

Also LIDAR is becoming more and more common, so if that is the case, i've read that the whistler pro78 has the 2nd best frontal LIDAR detection...

First find out how old that unit is:

http://www.valentine1.com/upgrades/

Also problem with radar detectors.. is that they can become out of tune overtime.

Which is why it is recommended that you buy a v1 new... if not.. service repair of a unit out of tune starts at 45 plus shipping: http://www.valentine1.com/service/

The annoying thing about v1s is that you can't tell that its not working properly until you notice that it doesn't detect certain bands any more...esp Ka...

The older the unit, the more chance that it could be out of tune...
