Just put a mtx jackhammer and youll be done with you system! Hahaha Just kidding! Like was stated above how much cash do you got? Also do you want to do a car for db drag, a sick show system or a daily system?

I love Alpine and Jl audio.

So heres a system builder from alpine:

JBL crown amps are sweet everything else of thiers im not a fan of. Kicker's ss comp sets are nice too but they dont compare to mb quart QSD's or focal utopias
Morel makes spectacular speakers also.

do you like a lot of highs? quart will give u that if not try morels or focals they are softer.
those 3 are my fav picks tho for top of the line components.
JL components are board speakers they are made to sound better on a board in a sound room, because thats what sells them.

Morels are made in Israel, so if u are in johannesburg that would be the closest of the companies to you and the most likely for u to find.

By "split system" you're just talking about a set of component speakers? My advice is the only ones you should buy are ones that you can hear, so go track down all the car audio stores in your area (especially the independent ones) and listen to as many as you can in your price range. Make sure the mounting depth will fit in your car with minimal modification. Then get back to us if you have any more questions.

If you're talking about a more serious system, like with an external amp or a sub, then we need to know more about what you want.

I agree go to an audio shop and listen to them. You can tell the diff. on some. Just stay away from the sony's. They are not the best sounding and there reliablitly aren't great either. Look for:
Alpine
Rockford Fosgate
Polk
Kenwood
Kicker
Pioneer
Audiobahn
Jl audio

Theres others but these are the ones I know off the top of my head. Just look around and compared before you buy. Btw Polk and Rockford Fosgate are pricy!!!

Holy crap that is a lot of money to spend on speakers.

Not sure what you can buy. What kind of music taste do you have? What kind of music do you listen to the most?

you have 4 grand american money to spend on speakers or is it R3000, that would sound more like it cause that is around 461 if i got the conversions right. if you have 30000 of that money you can buy the best sound system in the U.S.

Hi all

No i've got R30000 no mistakes but this is for the entire installation, i was told by the foreign exchange that they would give me $4500. My only problem here is getting the sound stuff cauz these people here in SA charge a **** load to import stuff.

The system i was looking at was 2 12" RF P3's with a custom boot install, a Dynamat sound insulator setup, 2 sets of MBQuart QSD 216's components, 2 Pioneer 6x9's, Run this off of 2 RF Amps With a Sony DVD player with 7" screen, 2 2farad caps and RF wiring.

But like i said i'm not a complete sound pro and i listen to a variation of music types so i'm just looking at a well balanced sound system.

When talking to people in the US, it's the trunk, not the boot. A boot is something you wear.

If you want to save money due to import costs, you could do away with the capacitors, and maybe only get one set of Quarts. People who build for sound quality usually only run front speakers. I've read that capacitors haven't been shown to help at all with anything less than a gargantuan system.

For $4500, I would get:

Headunit:
Clarion DRZ9255
http://www.clarion.com/usa/pro....html

Components:
RS Audio Pro165
http://www.rs-audio.de/deutsch...x.htm

Subwoofer:
Adire Brahma 12D2
http://www.adireaudio.com/Mobile/BrahmaSeries.htm

Amps:
2 - Sinfoni 90.2X
http://www.sinfoniamerica.com/...ct=66

Between Ebay and European shops you should be able to get everything for your budget.

Thanks all

All your advice has givin me a good direction to head towards. & LudemanDan next time i'll remember to call it a trunk and not a boot, its just an SA thing.

Secondly fcm i can get sound here but its extremely expensive, that basic system i listed will cost almost R40000 here, and my mom's going over seas next month, thats why i needed to get a general feel as to what i should get cauz she's going to by my stuff over there for me.

Actually, I think the US is the only English-speaking country where it's called the trunk. Everywhere else, a trunk is something you check at the baggage claim at the airport.

OIC, you mean it will cost more to get it there, then to get it here and pay duty to bring it into SA?

Here are a few things to think about.....
1- As no matter what kind of system you want to put together, [SQ, SPL, a mix of both, just for you, or you want to compete] the most important piece of equipment you get, will be the HU, everything will depend on it, from the SQ coming out of the speakers, to how much control you have over the system, to what you can do to upgrade the system in the future, if you wanted to. You don't want to spend $800, [USF] on a HU now, only to find out it will not do what you want/need it to do later. 2- Another thing you will have to look at in a HU, [if you want to use the radio] North America uses a slightly diff. "system" then you do, [radios from here will not work there and ones from there will not work here] unless the HU you pick has that capability, [to switch between the two]
3-When looking at cost of the equipment, don't forget to factor in the "oh ****" costs, oh **** it stopped working, oh **** the warranty is no good here, oh **** it's going to cost an arm and a leg to fix here, oooh sssshit! it's going to cost an arm and a leg and a left nut, to ship it back to the US and have it fixed. Then there is the no service costs, here if I go to my local car audio shop and get a system have them install it, not only do I get parts and labour warranty on the equipment, but also on the install, and at most retail outlets, if something goes wrong within the first 30 days, they will just replace it with a new one, thats service, and non of that will cost me so much as R1.
You must have heard of Murphy's Laws If anything can go wrong, it will. If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong. If anything just cannot go wrong, it will anyway . 94
