Default Problems getting Ipod to work with new Alpine unit.

I just bought an Alpine CDE-9852 and the Alpine KCE-422i Ipod Control Interface Cable.

The instructions say to just hook up the interface cable to the back of the head unit and then to the Ipod. Then you can listen to music from the head unit and control the Ipod from the head unit.

I can get songs and playlists from the Ipod to display on the head unit but no music. I just get a washing static like sound. Like a shhhhhhhhhhh noise with beeps in it. It's weird.

Anyone have any experience with this? My Ipod is a Nano and the firmware is up to date. I am about to call Alpine but they are closed right now so I thought I would try here.

Thanks for any help.

Which ipod model do you have? also have you updated the software for it?
Because mr jobs has changed the fimware on the ipods many will not work with the interfaces...trust me on this I have lost a lot of sales because we spent time and money selling and installing the products..only to have to remove and refund the product and labor.

I re-read your post...the nano wont work with it..sorry. It will work flawlessly with the 2006 models that are full ipod control with the k422i cable..go figure
