Default OEM CD player PE0 error

Hi everyone, just got this error in my CD player on a stock Integra (97)

Now, I've done a search on the forum on similar topics, but none of the topics seem to have any possible solution/DIY repair tips.

I'm using non-CDR CD's and it still gives me the error. Just a day ago the CD player started skipping beats, I'm wondering if it's the laser alignment?

Acura's quoting me minimum of $150 for fixing this, so I'm wondering if it's even worth it to get it fixed

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I can't find the codes in my Service manual? I wouldn't waste $150 for them to look/fix it. Grab one from crutchfield, comes w/ all the mounting stuff you'll need and detailed instructions on your application. Even if you never put a head unit in before you can w/ the kit they send you. Even comes with all the wiring clips you'll need, just a couple clips and screws in and out and you're done!!

PE0 means its a disc reading error. like you would get if trying a cd-rw. is that cd you are trying one of those interactive cd's you can use in your computer? it could be that. as far as fixing your stock cd player. stock acura cd players aren't worth a good squirt of ****. you can get a bottom line pioneer for 139.99 and would sound way better, well, as good as stock honda speakers can do anyway.

if you searched the archives on the PE-0 error im sure you've seen my posts on a 99 SH... we went throught 3 decks which all got the PE0 error before saying forget it (even tho they were free under warranty)...

got a clarion have been happy since.. dont waste your time or money at the acura dealer.. apply your $150 and add some if you can.. and get a new aftermarket ehad unit

Yeah the infamous PE0 error.. I've also got it on my stock integra '97 cd deck as well.. for well over a year now. I've been getting away w/ the radio for the longest time.

Ditto happened to my friend's 97 EL cd deck. Bottom line is, its not worth repairing, gives alpine a bad name, get a new deck

Have you tried to reset your radio? disconnect the battery then power it up again? Maybe that will help.
