Default O.E. Wiring Harness Question

I ordered a wiring harness like this one

http://www.scosche.com/scosche...A02RB

I was wondeing it itll be easy to connect, will it be color coded? Will it be as easy as connecting one of these harnesses?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Radio-Inst...wItem

Also what is meant by the term hard-wiring?? I have a good idea but just want to be sure

Any advice please. Thanks

They're the same thing. Yes, they're color coded to the universal aftermarket stereo colors. You'll have to hardwire that to the harness that comes with your new stereo. If you're not comfortable crimping or soldering, you could go to Circuit City and buy the plug in harnesses instead. Problem is that they only carry them for the brands of stereos they sell.

What stereo is in your car now? Hopefully no one has cut off your stock harness.

if you can solder, then it shouldnt be hard at all. personally i hate crimping wires because over time the connection can work loose, with soldering u know its a 100% good connection for a long long time if done right.

ok i got the cd player wired and it plays. When i turn the car ignition on my settings are gone. Im thinking my issue is as follows:

One of my connection consist of 12 volt batter, 12 volt memory and, and a red w/yellow strip that comes from the oem setup?

I want to know its it should the connection even have 3 wires or should it be just 2 wires coming from it?

OK, give me a sec. to decode what you posted...

"ok i got the cd player wired and it plays. When i turn the car ignition on my settings are gone. Im thinking my issue is as follows:" When you turn off the ign. you loose your radio presets and time, [if the HU has a clock].
One of 3 things is wrong, you have miswired the HUs red, [acc. or switched lead] and yellow, [constant power] you have them crossed, You have a blown fuse, [no power] on the HUs yellow constant power, your HU has a problem.

"One of my connection consist of 12 volt batter, 12 volt memory and, and a red w/yellow strip that comes from the oem setup?" Sorry can't decode that.

" I want to know its it should the connection even have 3 wires or should it be just 2 wires coming from it?" Sorry.

The stock radio harness like I gave you has all the color codes there are 3 power wires in the stock harness 12V+ acc., it is the 'switched" power, 12V+ constant, it's hot at all times, used for HU memory, and 12V+ illumination, hot when park lights are on.
Your aftermarket HU will need the 12V+ acc. and the 12V+ constant, it may or may not need the 12V+ illumination. 94

Ok to make this a little simpler, look @ this wiring diagram http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.pdf

From what you see on it, what wires should these be crimped to?:

Yellow/+12 Volt Battery/Memory ---->

Red/ +12 Volt Ignition/Acc.-------->

Not shure if its correct but right now i got both of these crimped together with 1 other wire which is the oem battery connection, i forget the wire color. Let me know if that made anymore scents :D
