Default noob with alpine 7893 problem

Okay im a noob when it comes to radios, i 've never installed one or wired one or anything. I had a Alpine 7893 cd player in a 97 integra, I got it that way. I then traded that car for a 92 civic vx. While I was driving home after trading the car I connected the cd player up and it would'nt work, could I have fried the cd player while doing this or is there another reason to why it wont work. I've checked all the fuses and they're all good. This is what it looks like when I connect it together. Should I rewire it or what?

Very nice HU, lets hope you have not damaged it. By the looks of it you have not connected the ACC. red wire with blue butt connector on Alpine harness to red wire with red butt connector on adapter harness.

Hint... The Alpine CDA-7893 is a true "high power" HU, if you want the most out of the unit do not use the stock constant power, [yellow] run a fused 12ga lead from the batt. pos.(+) to the HUs yellow constant power.
You will also need to add a 12ga ground strap from the chassis of the HU to the cars chassis. Not needed if you use a metal back support, ["L" bracket] from back of HU to stock rear support, [what stock HU was mounted to].

It also looks like the line choke and fuse have been removed from the yellow constant power line, install a 20A fuse on the fused 12ga power lead.

Don't forget to cap off the adapters yellow constant power as it is a hot at all times line, just rip it out of the adapter harness.

This is not a unit you want to replace, it has just about everything built in from the 4x27W RMS internal amp, 4ch digital time correction, [Bass Engine Plus] a 3 position HP/LP 12dB/oct crossover, Bass Focus and the list goes on. 94

Bump because I have another question. What will I need to hook an iPod up to this Headunit? If it can even be done. I searched yahoo and found a little info but nothing that really gave me any confidence. I did however buy a alpine cable, a KCE-422i and it wont work on my head unit. I saw something about a box that makes the cd player think the ipod is a cd changer... or something to that affect. It was around $100 and im not sure if I want to spend that or not. Anyone know anything?

The adapter you need for your ipod is the KCA-420i.

the cda7893 (from 2002) is a bit too old to use a kca420i.

i used a kca121b on my one model lower cda7892 to turn my ai-net (changer) input into an aux in and connected an rca to ipod connector port to play the ipod. you can use the headphone jack, but it sounds crappy.
